| I'm doing a bit of research because I'm sketching up a new user interface for the board; the look, feel and function of the board. So, I'm asking you now, what can we do to make it easier to navigate and use the board? My own vote is for putting emphasis on popular tasks, and a layout opt-out list, in which you could specify users whose layouts wouldn't show up for you. |

| I like the layout-killer idea. Also how about checkboxes instead of Quote links? When you click New Reply, all the posts you checked are added as quotes. Also, a [nosmilie] tag would be nice. |

| I would put the list of users online at the bottom. And a link to PM in each post. And the ability to quote while replying without copy-pasting everything from the reply page. That would help when you want to quote more than one post. | |||

| I'd appreciate some minor changes: - Clicking on "Last post in" link in someone's profile redirects to the right page and post direclty, like when you just submitted or edited a post - Deleting the first post in a thread should be impossible for the creator, or allowing him to delete the thread as well when there is no reply (what I won't so if I were an admin; a user should know when to start a thread or when not) - Displaying and adding AIM, YIM, MSN accounts in thread.php too. - For a mod or admin a mod cp might me good; like in phpBBs to close/unlock or delete several threads at one in a forum by marking the thread(s) and clicking on the proper button below (yes, a weird suggestion since I'm no staff here; but I use this feature in another forum and know its advantages  )- The preview of newreply.php should list also the previous posts; it may happen that you just preview a post in an active thread and you end up posting a similar post while someone submit just the same, only with other words (edited by Gandalf The Grey on 03-20-04 04:12 PM) |

I'm thinking this board should have a "search feature" so that if ppl need to look at board to look for an answer to their question, they will be less threads with questions already answered. | Err... Suggestion 1: revised Quick-reply box at the bottom of each thread page... So that you don't have to load the reply page itself. Suggestion 2: Where it has "last post at:" on the index page, actually put the thread's name there. and a link to see the most recent page... Suggestion 3: A much smaller layout for us 56k-ers... |

| - A favourite forums list on the index. I use them on all other boards, but unfortunately AcmlmBoard doesn't have the feature. - A graphic for 'New Poll'. If ErkDog let's you, just steal his.  - Erk's user control panel. Another thing handy. - A 'PM' link in the left-hand user information in the default thread layout. - Birthday entry in the thread list, too. - Layout-killer. Hide someone's layout. - A search feature. Search only for thread titles, post text will kill the server again.  - Ban FreeDOS! | Quick reply would be a nice little feature - optional again, but some people with fast PC's might just want to read the thread and reply without bothering to... um... click another button. I think the New Poll graphic is coming whenever Milly makes it. If the AIM/Y!/MSN/ICQ/etc. fields were added, then only the ones which apply to a certain user should be fields in the profile. (For example, if someone only has an AIM name, don't have entries for everything else. Waste of space. ) |

| Quick links in thread to PM a user, email, etc... Possibly a User CP, I personally don't see that as a needed thing, just wouldn't be bad. Ability to disable "all" layouts. Quick and easier browsing. Last post by, with a link to the thread itself. |

| Well, we can't put in too many links because then you clutter up the thread layout. Dunno about a user CP either... if anything, most info can be accessed through Edit Profile. Maybe a link or two on top for anything extracurricular. |

| True, but I like that hack (forgot who it's made by) that adds a simple PM link to the posted user within the same line as Quote, and Edit / Delete for you staff. So maybe those kinds of links would fit better there? Being there, it wouldn't really clutter up with Posts, Level, Avatar, and all that, simply because it's not grouped with them. But yeah, agreed to the User CP. I don't exactly know why one would be used. |

| yeah, I like the link that goes straight to "edit profile" at the top. and that it doesn't prompt you to confirm your username+password like on 1.8a boards. I'm against the user CP idea unless the link to 'edit profile' remains intact. I second the recommendation to add a link to the actual thread in the "last post at" thing in the forum index. plus add "&page=last" at the end and have it work, like at CGC's board. also, a sub-title/description for threads, like at CGC's and TEK's board, as has been mentioned in other threads at this board. edit polls. an option in your profile regarding whether or not to have ranks shown with your username/avatar (which is N/A for people with custom titles). instead of just private messages, how about private threads, so you don't wind up with "Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: sup" in your PM box. show a link to board-wide announcements in index.php, like is done in forum.php *Vystrix Nexoth will think of others later |
