?

EDIT: strange, i'm guessing the board's priorities are fucked up, it puts the emoticon over the <br> tag.

The weird thing is, that in the second row the first smiley ist displayed but the other colons, seperated by one space character, are shown properly

Wierd thing is, in Firefox there is alot of angry smileys.

In IE, just nothing.

In the old versions you couldn't start a line with a smiley... but they fixed that. Maybe it's the fix which causes the problem...

Here's the problem: When you hit enter-:, it does an angry smilie. The basic code is this:

<br>:

And what else is screwing it up but that? Now, I'm not seeing angry smilies, but I am using IE, and from Post Reply, you can see them normally, so I'm guessing it happens with CSS layouts only (The smilie part, not the part where the :'s dissappear).

All I knew is that it had the tendency to killing a colon if you wanted to use something like a as the first thing in your post.

Buggy.

Yeah, I wondered if it had to do with breaks, with the way each smiley was on a different line too.

Very odd.

Your guess is right, since I don't see any angry smilies in this thread, because I have post layout turned off. And I saw them with post layouts turned on.

the reason is the smilies are not replaced when you make the post....

the post is stored in the database as

\n:

the new line char gets turned into a br and then the also gets converted to an angry smiley....

just a small quirk... I don't think it's worth fixing really

the only time it ever exhibits itself is if you type a colon as the first character of a line, which you shouldn't ever be doing anyway.....

cause if you are making a list:

like that the colon goes at the end....

and that's the only time other than in code you use a colon anyway....

times and formal introductions, things like that

Dear Dr. Blah:

Please address the following items by 8:15 today:

I just used all 3 times you would ever legitmiately use a colon

There are some proctologists who know some pretty wild ways to use colons. I don't know if they're "legitimate," though.

That also gets fucked up. What I typed was: ";_|;_|;_|;_|;_|;" without the |'s.

But maybe that already got explained in another thread.

well that's a semicolon for one.. not a colon...

and there are even less legimiate reasons to use a semicolon in written english than there are a colon...

Angry smilies in your colon? Ouch, that's gotta hurt.
Yeah, I noticed a major smily change when I switched to Firefox... its worth it, though. (I think its better than IE, unless you like popups )

There is a time you could use a colon as the first character: in a smilie. I see this a lot...

[edit] Well it always used to do it. Maybe different smilies then?
