IT's the opposite. A page can't look nice in IE.

Oh, and blocking browsers has nothing to do with Java. I don't know why you brought it up.

I used to have a button that said "Made with Notepad - the right way" but I can't find it. But the bottom of every page of my site has the usual "Optimized for Mozilla" with a link to the Mozilla download page. It should look the same in IE, though.

A page looks nice in the browser it's designed for. And well, nowdays people are trying to follow the W3C standards not designing the webpage for a certain browser.

And for being honest, I hate the idea of blocking someone becuse of the browser they are using.

I go and surf with Mosaic. That's the orginal browser!

It's not 1997 anymore. There shouldn't be any sites only for one browser. In fact, HTML is based around the notion that if a browser doesn't support a set of tags, it will ignore them and display the content anyway.

I once got rejected because I had blocked a site's banner image - meaning they wouldn't get credit for the impression.

They quickly removed that little rejection notice.

There are 2 ways (i think) of blocking browsers:
- with script
- with php ( i do'nt know if it exists)

With the so-called Browser Wars being back (the fact that the question 'Are the Browser Wars Back?" is asked weekly on Slashdot is reason enough for me to just say, the hell with it, they are..), frankly I'm not surprised that we're seeing more and more of this.

And there are a number of ways to block pages, but Java is not one of them, as FreeDOS mentioned. However, Java is frequently confused with JavaScript, the only similarity they really have is name, and that's it.

When I finish my page redesign/redevelopment, I will include a note at the bottom of it that reads:

This site should work in ALL BROWSERS.
It was designed and tested in Mozilla Firefox.
Powered by Movable Type.

IE doesn't work and I can prove it!

If only I could get Photoshop to behave properly... I could make an image that insults only people using IE.

OMG! I never thought IE rendered pngs that badly! Firefox gets a perfect score. Yay! IE, on the other hand, renders the most bizarre incorrect image for all of them. A grey->transparent appears as a grey->pink, in some cases.

I used IE a few seconds ago.... I couldn't handle it.

I prefer Firefox. But still, deny access to a website because of it (even if I encountered alot of websites that block FireFox.

Box model hack, think you can read about it there why ChibiTaryn's layout doesn't have the correct width in IE.

Bleh, I didn't realise it was so narrow in IE. Yet another reason why I hate IE, it turns perfectly valid CSS into smooshy crudsmellybum *^%^$$.

I wonder...who introduced CSS anyways and who made it popular? I'm inclined to say Microsoft had a hand in this but that isn't right, right?

My first guess for standards of that sort is that they were mapped out by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium)
