you know this country is failed when energizing a demographic to vote becomes illegal.

i don't even care his party orientation, getting the youth involved in the government is a noble task.

Exactly, man. He wasn't even saying "vote for Kerry", he was just getting them to register to vote.

Seems that the republicans don't want young intelligent people to vote .

Well that's a pity. A damn bloody shame. 'CAUSE I'M VOTING ANYWAY. I think it's really stupid for anyone who has the ability to choose not to vote. What a waste...

I like the "bribe" material. Tostitos and Ramen Noodles.

Heh, this whole thing is silly. But it goes to show how unpopular Moore is with some people -- I'm sure somebody else could try the same stunt and not be arrested.

Well, there is the whole "rainy election day makes for republican win"-thing. Republicans statistically hold a better chance of winning when the voter-turnout is low, so why would they want him to register voters?

Haha. "Slackers who don't usually vote". Seems like the Republican party has known about this group of people for a while, and has slowly made them feel bitter about politics so that they're less likely to vote.

They know damned well that if the young people of America used their vote they'd be in deep shit, and they're desperately trying to conceal their fear.

Right, but Moore is so vehemently anti-Bush that "Vote for Kerry" seems to be the implication he's making.

Correct you are, but they aren't required to do so, thus making what he did legal.

Speaking as a student, I would like to say that he has done his research into student life and has a pretty good idea of what students need when living off Pot Noodles and used underwear all year

The impression is "Vote for Kerry" but in reality it's "Vote for anyone but Bush".

Although to be honest, aside from a possible Nader vote you're still basically throwing a vote away if you don't vote for Kerry.

Moore may be vehemently anti-Bush, but he's also stated that he'd "keep an eye on" Kerry as well..

Course, I still think that the local shock-jock could've tried the same thing and not have been arrested. But Moore tends to rub a lot of people the wrong way....

I can see why Moore rubs people the wrong way, of course, but I can also see why he is popular amongst others. I personally enjoyed his TV Nation and The Awful Truth shows when they were aired in Australia

He doesn't especially like Kerry, he just hates Bush and wants him out of office.

And yes, The Awful Truth pwned .

Of course. He has to in order to keep making movies (And thus millions). From a strictly financial standpoint, he has to.

I'll just find it amusing when all the people that are like "OMG WE <3 MOORE AND KERRY" start seeing anti-Kerry movies from their favorite liberal....yeah, I'll just stop here.

It's not all about money. That's what you don't see. Moore writes about what he knows. One of his documentaries, Roger and Me, was about how horrible it was when GM laid off tons of it's workers in Michigan. It truly hurt everyone in the area. Moore's liberal... why would he bash another liberal guy?

Just because he makes money doesn't mean that that's what he's all about .
