Yes, its in Washington State (not Washington DC). Im about 2 hours away from it.

It's probably going to erupt soon, but not anything like the eruption in 1980. That eruption blew off a majority of the mountain.

But yeah, the volcanoe doenst ahve much energy anymore, or much built up potential to really hurt anyone.

Going through school in Washington, it was hard NOT to learn about Mt St Helens. It seems as if we were talking about it every six minutes. I've seen SO many videos and done way too many reports.

But yeah, it wont be like last time. And Helens is nothing. Just hope that Mt. Raninier doesn't go off someday. That would be catastrophic.

haha, seriously. I live in bremerton, which is on the west side of the sound across from Seattle. from my back deck, I can see Mount Raineir clearly. it jets up above the horizon with no other features around. Just a huge ass mountain chillin. Often times, the clouds are well below the peak of the mountain.

Its so god damn big.

But yeah, if that sucka erupted, it would be freakin nuts, man. FREAKIN NUTS.

I can explain that spelling error. When I looked over my post, I noticed it said "ran" instead of "rain". I went to put the "i" in there and put it in the wrong place. Bah!

Hmm. When I was in Seattle over the summer the sky was too hazy to see Mt Ranier on most days. I think I saw it maybe a couple times at the UW fountain. That campus is the shit by the way.

I was born shortly after the 1980 eruption. My parents have pictures of our property covered in thick ash, and we're on the opposite side of the state (Spokane)!

I *really* hope we don't have another major eruption...

Ha, is it because you're worried your parents are going to have another kid if it does?

Our biology teacher showed us pictures of what happened the first time around.

She showed us a 'Before' and 'After' picture.

We have, beautiful, colorful forest, to grey, desolate wasteland . The second picture was in color, and it still looked like black and white...

I live in NJ, the state with the *fabulous* reputation *giggles*
I don't care, personally if the volcano erupts; besides, if you live in Washington, but are far enough away, hey! Make ashangels and ashmen! Think positive. I know, I'm being pretty ludicrious right now.

Nobody is living close enough to the volcano, it shouldn't be a problem, with the exception of people who have tried to get closer to it.

I'm willing to bet this eruption will be a let down.

While we're talking about homes filled with lava...when people build their homes right next to a volcano that they know is living and active, why are they surprised to find lava in their living room?

Well as the 1980 eruption showed, people get attached to their homes. They knew it was dangerous, but they lived there, had businesses there.. same reason why nobody would live that town that was built on top of a waste dump (I forget the name. Love Canal?)
