First let me state that I truthly hate my step father. I try to look at the best in everyone but thats just impossible with this man. Hes a hateful friendless prick who I would murder without a second thought. I just hate him.

According to him when I turn 18 he'll be able to treat me like a real man. What this means is that he can fight me, which Im just waiting for cause once that happens Im not stopping until that fat son of a bitch is dead. Hes ruining my life..I only have to put with him for this last year of school but I dont think ill make it...hes pushing me and about ready to snap.

If he's threatening to hit you and treat you like a man, let him. Walk right out the door to the police and get his ass thrown in jail. It's better then killing him because then you'll get in trouble.

Uh huh...
My dad hit me all the time before I turned 18. Then came the day, when he realised that he had no power over me. His back went outta shape, his blood pressure got too high, and he lost over 10 grand all in one night. For the first time in my life, I saw the old man cry. It was the first time he has ever been so scared and I pitied him for it.

Move on with life, register to vote, and leave. You have your own life to live; furthermore, don't let anyone lower than your level traumatise your well-being for no good reason. You're a clever kid and I think you'll pull through.

Yeah I bet that he wants you to do is snap. So, if you do hit him that he can get you in trouble for doing so by bringing your mom into it. And tell his side of the story which I'm not sure if your mom takes his side or not. Just chill about that and get out of the house as much as possible. Like going out and spending time with friends. Basically, if you're 17 that you can move out. Cuz that's what my friend is planning on doing when she turns 17.

Since you're over 16, why not get a job (less time at home) and save money and once you are 18, move out on your own. Don't go down to his level, it just makes things worse.

Ive calmed myself down....now Im takin it easy and spending alot of my time keeping busy. I would get a job if I could find one I liked that suprisingly hard to do where I live, and I refuse to do fast food.

That's good to hear and yeah I know what you mean about finding a job. It's hard to find a job around here without having to go into the fast food business.

Fast food isn't that bad of a job if you really need the money. I worked at Burger King while in high school because I had to pay for most of the things that I wanted or needed.

If you're really in trouble, you can't be picky.

I refuse to ever work in fastfood again. It IS that bad of a job; extremely stressy and very low pay. Not to mention ridiculous working hours -.-

Amen to that sister. I worked for Haagen Dazs this summer at Navy Pier in Chicago and it was ridiculous! It pretty much consumed mu summer and the money was hardly worth it.

Well, with your step dad, if he does hit you, file assault charges. I'd be surprised if he did it again after that....

As for getting a job, I found working in a supermarket to be okay. At least, better than working in a fast food place.

But it is funny when you are in an interview and they notice that you went from a fast food joint to being a manager at two seperate places, one being that of a well known chef. Thet see that you took the change pretty well and what not.

I had no problem with the pay and the hours were worked around with what I had to do with school. But its mainly one of those "high school" things anyway. I still can't understand seeing 20-something, or even 30-somethings working at a place like that.

I guess its just where you end up and how you handle it, I guess.

At any rate, hope things go well for you and that you find a good path in all of this crap.

I'm not a people-person. Also, I rarely talk so yeah getting me a job will not be fun.

You don't have to be a people person. I'm not. Just very desperate and itching for money.
And the talking bit is you unenthousiasticly repeating the same 5 or so lines over and over and over.
Unless ofcourse you work in the kitchen. Then it'll be you making the same crappy burgers over and over and over. I'd pick kitchen over counter work, as counter has you run around like a fool, and you get alot of extra chores no one mentions when you start out.
At the McDo's I worked at, the ratio of kitchenpeople vs counterpeople was 3:1. I think that alone says how fun it is to work at the counter
As Jen said, you can get hours adjusted to your schoolhours, if you actually still go to school.
I got the leftover hours myself; my working schedule was set up after everyone else got the hours they wanted. Since I knew I'd only do it for 3 months or so anyways, I didn't protest against that, but it still sucked anyways.
Not to mention it's a job that is really draining on both your mental and physical state. Standing all day and having to be polite towards total pigs isn't ever going to be my dreamjob. And I really don't get why there were people nearing their 30's still working there, with no prospects of a different job.
If you really need a job, try to find something you're not 'pre-disgusted' with. Or something that you know will get you loads of money for what they have you do
