I never have problems with the PS1 (except memory cards), PS2 or Xbox. But, that Gamecube... It's mostly those **** first party controllers refusing to calibrate well. Up is supposed to be UP, not 3/4 to the side or whatever! I had to get a used Mario Party 4 disc repaired, and Zelda Wind Waker once froze in the middle of an ocean. Not to mention that Metroid Prime elevator glitch. A spare Dreamcast I "borrowed" won't recognize the first controller port, and my Saturn doesn't remember it's saved games.

My KSS game seems to erase itself every time I take it out of the system (I think, the battery is fucked ) and my N64 takes anywhere beween a few seconds to 8-10 buisness days to get started (long story short, the little plastic "thingies" on the side, where you can sorta see intot he system, got yanked off. So there's probably god knows what in there) But. With that asside, every Nintendo product I've ever owned has always worked for me 100%, with the slight exception of that one Zelda 4 cart, that they replaced for me in a matter of days

"But what, the fuck, is up with these new gen consoles that break after 3 minutes of game time? (sarcasm.)"

Actually, that's exaggeration, not sarcasm.

No, it is sarcasm. I was being sarcastic. Now if you want to make yourself look like an idiot even more then don't do it in this thread. You're off topic. Now go read a book. I suggest you start with a dictionary.

Never had a problem with my NES, SNES*, GB, GC or PS.

Guess I was lucky on the latter but Nintendo's always been known for good QA. You'd be surprised at the abuse some GBA's can take.

* - Well, except for the one I got for Christmas many years ago. It worked fine but after a few days it would only display graphics in black and white. Simple fix but that was a weird defect.

theclaw: That's why I always buy first-party. Sure it's more expensive but at least i'm sure it's durable. I have four first party controllers, and three GBA>GCN cables , yes I do have three GBA's... (but two of them are actually my sisters )

*ahem*

The reason I have an X-Box is because the Gamecube I got came with severed wires. I took it back, they told me about it. I got another one, this time it had a broken laser. After that I said fuck it! I picked up an X-Box and Halo. I've never had one problem with it, except for when I was playing KOTOR for 40 hours...STRAIGHT. No turning off the damned system. It just kinda got choppy, and then died on me.

My buddy has bought 4 PS2s since they came out. Not one of them has worked. Plain and simple.

Overall, quality assurance has gone down, but the number of systems being pumped out at an alarming speed with DOZENS of fragile and sensitive moving parts has just sky rocketed.

Let us reflect on our own doing.

This morning I bought Star Ocean 3. Opened it up, put it in the PS2 and got a Can Not Read Disc. YAY!!!!

So I put in one of those cd cleaners. You know, the ones with the bristles on it to clean the lens? Well, I got the same message. AWESOME!

Then I used my can of compressed air and blew it in there for a bit. Then I set the PS2 verticallly and that seemed to have done the trick.

For now.

Lots of people do the "vertical" trick for some reason. Can't remember why but it has something to do with the laser I think.

I'd try to avoid keeping it vertical for long if I were you...

Well... i never play my PS2, so no problems there. My dad bought an XBox for himself last week, and no probs apart from two freezes already, one on PGR the other on Burnout 3. On GBA no probs- a friend of mine put his in the washing machine by accident, along with F-Zero MV, and it still works (though the memory erases itself each time it turns off). Even my N64- when i used to play 4-5 hours a day to set records for FZeroCentral- is fine, only a stuck control stick every now and again when i try a DTDZ or DTDR. And my SNES... we bought one from Ebay a few months ago, its our fifth since 1993, and its fine. Only the game's memory erasing sometimes, but otherwise nothing. Then there was the PS1.

My dad chipped our PS1, which explains a lot, but nevertheless its the most ungrateful sonafabitch ever when it comes to loading. And freezing. And making wierd shapes. And generally being a pain to live with. To start it you need to put it on its side, take out all controllers, memory cards and the game, switch off and on the plug that has the PS1 cable, and then hope for the best. A good whack never hurt either...

Nintendo has always been known for making products as durable as a bank vault. They're like the Fisher-Price of video games. Remember those tape players they had? You could hurl the damn things down the stairs and they'd still work just fine. (I think they even did it on a commercial.) Nintendo's the same way. Lasers and laser-disc technology, however, is delicate no matter who makes it. You can't really blame Nintendo for that. I've never had any problems with my Gamecube except for the sticky Eject button, which is easily fixed by poking at the release with your finger. My NES worked perfect right up until I sold it, and the one I have now (being brand new and all) boots up perfectly every time. My SNES has never, EVER had a problem to this day. (Well except the time my brother poured cat litter in it and clogged everything up, but that's not Nintendo's fault.) My N64 works fine, the previous one did die for some reason but I think it was probably defective to begin with. (It never did shut off right, the speakers would squeal.)

BTW, one problem I have found with both the SNES and the N64 is the size of the cartridge slots. The carts are a bit loose, which can cause problems starting them up when they're older. (I sometimes have to try 2 or 3 times to start an N64 game.) With the SNES this tends to lead to save file loss, in some cases *cough*marioworld*cough* nearly every time I play the game. Otherwise, there are no problems.

My Nintendo 64 won't play Mario Kart 64 or any other games that I purchased after the fact of getting the Expansion pack. That stupid thing ruins games and the system. My games cannot be played in other people's systems, and I can't play theirs in mine.

I had 2 SNES when I was a kid, the first one had faulty controller ports. The second one works fine, normally. I tend to notice that SNES controllers don't do well with older people with stronger grips.

My NES died, but that is fair.
