Not exactly the most common occurance here in Athens. But...yeah. M' best friend was listening to it via scanner, and relayed it to me by IM. Yes, I'm aware that a number of m' comments I had are stupid...cut me some slack; I've been up for too long, too many nights in a row, and I just got done with exams. M' head's not on straight right now (not that it was in the first place, but...it's a little worse) right now. This convo took place over a 30-minute stretch.

Senjoro Nie: woohoo, APD is in a pursuit
Samurai Steak: What?
Senjoro Nie: Police pursuit
Senjoro Nie: Started on Richland, the guy ran and is now headed down Pomeroy Road
Senjoro Nie: about 70 mph, but that is a curvey road
Samurai Steak: Ugh...not smart....
Samurai Steak: And since they have their lights on...they can keep chasing him until they run out of gas, right?
Senjoro Nie: They have APD and OSP on the guy's tail
Senjoro Nie: I saw to police cars speeding on the highway in that direction just a minute ago
Senjoro Nie: Did y?ou hear any sirens
Samurai Steak: Nothing.
Senjoro Nie: This guy is gonna be so fucked
Samurai Steak: What all can they get him for?
Samurai Steak: And...whadiya' suppose he's thinking?
Senjoro Nie: Felony fleeing
Samurai Steak: What degree of an infraction is that?
Senjoro Nie: My guess is he's either a) drunk, b) has a warrant out for him, or c) both
Senjoro Nie: APD discontinuing pursuit
Senjoro Nie: Meigs County has been advised and will be sending deputies that way
Samurai Steak: or d.) the unlikely event of a heist/other premeditated crime gone wrong.
Senjoro Nie: OSP is on him, though
Senjoro Nie: The guy is fucked, the state troopers won't break off.
Samurai Steak: Yeah...this could prove interesting.
Samurai Steak: You suppose something'll be on in the Sunday paper?
Senjoro Nie: Possibly
Senjoro Nie: Ohhh, I think they got him!
Samurai Steak: Did he pull over, or was he left no way out?
Senjoro Nie: He got stuck
Samurai Steak: How so?
Senjoro Nie: Took a dead-end turn
Samurai Steak: Oops.
Senjoro Nie: Fux0red.
Samurai Steak: Heh.
Senjoro Nie: Going into a hay field!!
Samurai Steak: I am assume you've been listening to this on a scanner?
Senjoro Nie: yep, scanner's on
Samurai Steak: ...wtf...?
Senjoro Nie: Got him stopped
Samurai Steak: In a hay field?
Samurai Steak: Oh geez....
Senjoro Nie: Evidently
Senjoro Nie: This is live, happening right now
Samurai Steak: I know this. You said the scanner's on.
Samurai Steak: It's like that stupid song that was on the radio a few years ago: I wasn't gonna run from the cops, but I got high. I was gonna pull right over and stop, but I got high. Now I'm [forget a few lyrics], and I know why (why man?). Because I got high, because I got high, because I got hi-i-igh....
Senjoro Nie: Subject is nabbed.
Senjoro Nie: BUSTED.
Samurai Steak: Ooh...life sucks when you act stupid, eh?
Senjoro Nie: [suspect's name deleted] - [suspect's address deleted]. Status is suspended.
Samurai Steak: Liscence status?
Senjoro Nie: That's why he ran - driving on suspended license
Samurai Steak: And got into much more trouble because of it....
Samurai Steak: Did they mention blood alcohol level?
Senjoro Nie: Nope
Senjoro Nie: That has to be done at the police station
Samurai Steak: Okay.
Senjoro Nie: He's plenty fucked as it is
Samurai Steak: Might as well see what else he's done.
Samurai Steak: So...felony fleeing, driving on a suspended license, speeding, likely stopsign/light violations...what else do he do to fuck himself up the ass tonight?
Senjoro Nie: Reckless operation of a motor vehicle
Senjoro Nie: Reckless endangerment
Samurai Steak: Resisting arrest, perhaps?
Senjoro Nie: Possibly
Samurai Steak: Oophta.
Senjoro Nie: FKitten Yiffer to comply with a lawful order (traffic stop attempt)
Samurai Steak: Fun times.
Samurai Steak: I bet you're looking forward to times like this, huh?
Senjoro Nie: possibly stolen vehicle, but I think it was sold to the offender
Samurai Steak: More things said over the scanner?
Senjoro Nie: Not a whole lot, they got him
Senjoro Nie: Usual tow truck has been called to remove the vehicle
Samurai Steak: Gee...why do people have to be stupid?
Samurai Steak: I mean...it's not like the cops don't know every road around here...why the hell did he thik he could get away, really? Or do you think he just panicked?
Senjoro Nie: BAC is going to be .19, so DUI now
Senjoro Nie: panicked/stupid
Samurai Steak: *shakes head*

So...yeah. This was fun. Probably not for people who live in big cities and this kind of schtuff happens more frequently.

My parents went through two scanners... we didn't do much listening but it was fun breaking into people's wireless phone conversations.

My grandmother have an scanner. Thought you seldom hear anything intresting...

Mainly becuse there seldom happens anything crime wise in Sweden, especially in that part my grandma lives in.

Yeah, I've seen them advertised on TV.

I'm not exactly that keen on listening to police radios as opposed to music... if anything I'd just watch Cops at 1:30 AM.
