Ow, Ow, OW!!

I just got woken up with this amazingly HOT, stingy feeling in the back of my throat. Not like acid reflux (although it seems pretty clear it's acid there) but more like I've coughed up LIQUID FIRE. To quote Ralph Wiggum: "It tastes like burning"

Now the pain won't go away..... what do I do, I want to go back to sleep!!

I've tried drinking milk, which worked for a little while -- it soothed my throat, but then it felt like the acid ate it all and the LIQUID FIRE came back!!!

I've tried drinking water, but it's not helping either

Does anybody know how to calm this? When this happens to you, what do you do?

Whenever this happens to me I just try to ignore it... since it happens in the middle of the night most of the time and I don't want to disturb other people.

Tried ice-cream? Something that is very base? (or what the hell you did spell that was the oppiste of Acid...)

Hmm.. what's very basic?

I have er... I don't have ice cream.

I have milk, honey, peanut butter, vegemite, ramen, pocky, chocolate, bread, crumpets, cheese, steak, butter and soup. o.o And that, ladies and gentleman, is the total of the things in my pantry (honest) o.o

Are any of those basic?

They're probably what caused this to happen in the first place....

I wonder if my tummy knows I have to get up early tomorrow morning. Maybe it's doing this on purpose. BAD TUMMY BAD!!!!

*drinking tons of water*

You keep poultry products in a pantry?

Anyway, sounds like your typical throat infection to me. I get them from time to time, but not recently. I got one very badly several years ago and it was very painful to drink even water. Lasted about a week and it sucked, of course.

But I'd recommend sticking with just plain water. Things like ice cream and such may seem like it goes down easily, but it will probably just end up irritating it and making it last longer. You can't go wrong with ol' water though, and it's good for you too.

Maybe try some liquid antacid, maybe it'll soothe your throat some.

Could've very well scratched it to add on to an infection. I've done that once or twice while swallowing something and not realize it until after I get up the next morning and I've had a bunch of gunk in my throat due to either being sick or just having allergies at a bad time, and it'll be enough to inflame my throat for a few days...and yea...sounds exactly like that.

If it's anything like that, I usually try my best to keep the throat clean as much as possible. So usually I'll drink a lot of water just to keep the throat semi-clean, like Leg said. Probably ice cream would help too...it'd be like working with getting your tonsils out almost.

The best thing you could possibly do is take a glass of semi warm water, put in two teaspoons of salt, mix it and then wash your moth with that. I don't know the right English terms + I am stoned at the time, but this really works, I always do it when I have a sore throat. You put the water in your mouth, lean your head backwards and start breathing out. Do that a few times and drink warm tea. (The red one) That should get your throat back ok in no time.

Coby, you mean gargling it?

I heard that works because the salt in the water cleans your throat, helps get rid of the infection. Never actually tried it myself though.

I recommend hot sweet tea.
If that makes it worse, go stock up on icecream, since that makes a little film over everything and might sooth it somewhat.
Or get some throat pills.
But all of that will only work if it is your throat, and not stomach acid. My stomach can't close off properly (I can't lay down untill at least 2h after eating anything), and I often have to drink something to sooth the damage the stomach acid can cause

Yes, gargling! That's the word I was looking for. It really helps, I do it all the time.

Well, it's gone now. It was stomach acid, but I don't usually have it burn like that!!

I often get acid reflux, but it's milder and I take medication for it. That on the other hand, was like having molten lava suddenly appear in my throat.

I just drank lots of sips of water till it calmed down a little. Although I don't think water's necessarily the best thing for acid, it helped, after a really long time.

As for the soap idea, er.... cute, but no. o.o

If you had tea, I would have gone with tea + honey.

Dunno how it would work with acid refluxish symptoms, but it seems to do something when I have a sore throat.
