Chibi, if I ever go to Australia (which I won't unless I'm going there to capture some reptiles to breed, particularly that beautiful frilled dragon) I'll be sure to bring you many of Canada's wonderous Asian goodies. In fact, less than an hour away from my residence there is a MASSIVE Asian grocery store and mall. They've got literally...Everything.

Hello Kitty store? What kind of store is that anyways?! I'm pretty sure it's not what I'm thinking that deals with Hello Kitty. Also, I wish stores around here would sell that kind of stuff now.

Heh, I didn't say where they came from, I just said I get them at the Chinese grocery.

I'm sorry, I read your post incorrectly 4 hours of program debugging for a stupid bug doesn't help XD

A hello kitty store is just that, it deals with nothing but hello kitty/sanrio stuff: pencils/pen, backpacks, dolls, stationary, etc.

I have a Hello Kitty glass from the Hello Kitty store (before the one here closed). It's cute

As for my shopping trip, I didn't actually pay attention to where the stuff I was buying actually came from -- I was buying the stuff that looked sweet.. It's probably just coincidence that the stuff I got happened to be all Japanese I knew the Pocky was Japanese though.

There were other snack foods there that I'll try next time around, although the chilli peas looked interesting... I'm not sure if I'd be able to eat many, but Ben might like them. There were also egg roll things that looked nice. And the cashewnut crackers are kinda cool, but not as addictive as say, the Yan Yan is... omg, more Yan Yan...

I was right about the Hello Kitty store then. Even though there's none around where I live. Also, what's Yan Yan?

Yan Yan are biscuit sticks, but unlike Pocky they are not already coated in something -- they come instead with a creamy sweet dip you dip the biscuit sticks in. The chocolate Yan Yan is good

There are so many different flavors of Pocky...while we usualy only have Chocolate, and OCASIONALY strawberry, theres this little shop called TokyoKid down in Harvard square (its about 40 minutes maybe from the campus of Bently College, though I seem to have forgot the exact town ) that sells shitloads of Japanese food, as well as some good anime and manga related merchandise they even had JUMBO Pocky. The little chopstick sized biscuits are now like freeking breadsticks. Pure orgasmic bliss

and if you don't mind scraping up a few bucks, I've also imported a couple of snacks from discountanimedvd.com, they have an incredibly Pocky selection

Strawberry is the bomb! My friend bought some down at this market not too far from my house. I think this other store sales it too, just a regular grocery one. I think it just has choclate though. I want strawberry Pocky now .

The closest Sanrio store I can think of is in Ontario, although there are a few stores around here with Sanrio sections.

I've actually done a few Pocky searches... sadly, my efforts have come up empty so far.

how come no one ever talks about the exotic world of caucasian food? asian stuff isn't all that great. i remember when i was little, i ate pocky a lot. but in reality, all i wanted was some ruffles. or some hershey's. but my parents never bought me that stuff. they always bought me pocky and pretz. i remember when we had family gatherings, they'd run little lotteries for us kids. the prizes were bags of ruffles. man, i used to love those lotteries because even if i didnt win, my cousins would share with me.

Because for the majority of us, caucasian food isn't exotic, it's everyday, in our faces, everywhere. Besides, I think I see a lot of threads about food in this forum anyways, not just food from asia, but food from all over the world.

I **love** the markets here in Adelaide, we can get food from all over the world. Thing is, I tend to find that there is more confectionary in the asian groceries than I can find in the other stalls, and I just happen to be drawn to confectionary by my sweet tooth.

I have a sweet tooth that is never satisfied and is always searching for new sweet things to chomp on!! I don't really care where it comes from, it's just gotta suit my tastes. It's just been more or less coincidence that the asian grocery has had a **lot** of stuff that's fit in this category.

Mmmmm..... suuuuugar....

If this is even remotely looking like Pocky, then I don't know what the fuss is about. That candy (in the picture) is produced in Europe (I know they get produced in both France and Belgium at least), despite the Japanese link.
And it sure isn't what it's being made out to be.

Pocky's actually really easy to find here ..well maybe because there are a lot of asians here..so yeah. Oh well, it's good for me and all other lovers of Pocky in my area. I don't know what the prices run..or else I'd by some but I'm broke.
