ok, I have decided I might format my pc, because I havent found the mouse/keyboard problem I have been having, but there is one problem, i dont have an XP disc, cause I got this computer used from a friend, and he didnt have it....so if I formatted, i would need to install 98SE, but the drivers this pc uses has no 98 drivers that I could find, anywhere, so does anyone know if XP drivers will work on a 98SE?, or which drivers I will need before I format?

Depends if it's strictly compatible with XP or not. Sometimes it'll work, sometimes it won't, it just depends on the hardware...but more than likely you shouldn't chance it. If Windows Update doesn't update the drivers that you want, you could always look up your manufacturer's website and go for broke DLing drivers off of there. That's what I had to do for my lovely onboard Intel accelerator for my display thanks to the fact that Windows 2000 was installed on here on a new hard drive...but thanks to the fact that this was designed for Windows ME, I didn't have the right drivers, so it ran like crap until I went to Intel's site and got the drivers off there. |

If you know the exact brand and model for any hardware, you should be able to find drivers for it...but that's the thing you have to know -exact- stuff.

actually, I found there drivers and such, and filtered for Win98SE, and only drivers, but gave me nothing, so does that mean there are no drivers for it for 98SE? edit:also, there are only 9 drivers on the site for my specific model, and most are for modem, which I dont need, one video driver, for win2000, a Bios driver, which is for all OS's, and a sound driver. Did you try 98SE -and below-? It could very well be that there aren't any drivers if the hardware is relatively new. Sometimes that won't allow you to support stuff on older versions of Windows.
