| One of the worst-kept secrets of the past few weeks, but Sony has officially announced at the Tokyo Game Show that a new version of the PS2 (SCPH-70000) will be released on November 1st in what appears to be a worldwide release. Of course, for all intents and purposes you might as well call the new PS2 a "PStwo". Because it's small. Really slim. They somehow managed to put an Ethernet port into it as well for easy online gaming - and there's still a dialup port as well. The one hitch with the new system? No support for the HDD, meaning no Final Fantasy XI. There might also be one or two other compatibility issues. Now all they need to do is announce one more price drop, which didn't happen today. |

| Bah, support for one game won't kill it. But, will it boost sales? My guess? Not much. Odds are, if you have the money to spend, you would have gotten a PS2 already. |

| Wow...that's like...half the size of the original...and I've got an SCPH-30001 over here...and we'll be getting SCPH-70001...the way that last number works is 0 in Japan, 1 in US, and I believe that everyone else gets 2. It's been like that ever since the original PSX SCPH-1000. And you know they'll find a way around that hard drive problem. My guess is that someone's going to get a converter out and use the USB for it. Now I'm not sure if that'll degrade the drive's quality, but it'll be an alternative for how small it is. And if you waited -this- long to buy a PS2, meh, I think you can deal without it. It's been what...three or four years since it's been released? |

| Actually...now that I think of it...if you need a USB port for the keyboard...you won't have a way of having a port for the hard drive...unless it's some weird USB/serial thing... ...wtf...this better not be some odd mistake by Sony. |

It would have been good if they had announced it earlier... when everyone didnt have a PS2... The only ones who will probably get it are the ones who want it for novelty, and the ones that dont have a PS2 in the first place. |

| A price cut would be a nice addition, and I was thinking about getting a PS2 recently. The normal PS2 is kind of bulky, at least it seems to me. Or I could just wait like 2 more years and buy one for 10 bucks at a gamestop. | |||

| ...if you don't get it PStwo is like PS2 just thinner. I don' t think it would use extra things that PS2 dosen't have. Heck it seems that it have less features, but who is using that HD? It's like GBA and GBA SP. |
