Guys! (And girls). I'm sorry to bring this up again but this time I really need an answer. It has really been bugging me. Mozilla Firefox allows some things that IE don't and vice versa.

So, IS INTERNET EXPLORER THE BEST AFTERALL?

Firefox.

Edit:
Be reminded that the question here is not "does it work at all without installing spyware without my approval?" but "is it the superior browser?". Microsoft's own security people have switched over to Firefox, for god's sake. Even if you can get by on it, I wouldn't call it the superior browser any day of the week.

IE is easy enough to use and there is nothing on it need to do that I can't, and with a smart user (my brother) you can keep it from automatically downloading anything.

Eh, there are somethings that will work in IE that won't in other browsers, but it's so limited that I just keep IE on hand for emergencies. It's really stupid but I really only use mozilla / navigator for the tabbing feature. I haven't uploaded a recent version of IE, though. They may have copied that by now

Oh, when I used IE as my main browser in the past it tended to get way unstable on me, to the point where I almost couldn't even load a page. That's pretty much what caused me to seek out other browsers. On the other hand, netscape and mozilla/firefox get out of whack everynow and then. It's nothing a little (ctl-alt-delete -> kill program) won't fix though.

No. But I still keep it up-to-date (and out of Win98's Shell), just in case.

No, it doesn't, but that's because your HTML is incorrect and you're relying on the bugs on one browser. For starters, <a> is an inline tag, and you're nesting <p>, a block-level tag, within it.

No man! Thats not the case! Maybe the HTML is messy but i was tired when i made it. The problem is that it won't execute the javascript properly. It does in IE.

I dunno if this counts as an alternative to IE, but I use Avant Browser, it's quite good. If not, then I guess I have to go with IE, there's nothing really WRONG with it as it stands, anyway. It's free, easy to use, and the one thing Microsoft's willing to GIVE to the world.

The Javascript functions just fine in Firefox - it's the display that messes up. I can sit here and expand/collapse them until the cows come home. You're using cross-browser DOM calls. It should work, and it does, too.

IE is simply a better browser for the base user. What Jesper and the majority of other computer users fail to realize is that the vast user base require simple programs that allow them to easily access the information they want. Firefox is pretty much the same browser, and a lot better overall, but again, not all average users have the ability to comprehend that there are other browser types.

Let me give you an example of how IE can suck: Not long ago, there was a small bug in the board's layout that IE displayed fine, while FireFox didn't. But FireFox was doing what's good since the tags were messed up.
