This issue has baffled and frusterated me ever since it was brought into my attention. Still no definate answer... I managed to save the internal data in LM, but I still see no results in ZSNES. I am wanting to change monty mole's palette in order to use more than 3 colours for my sprite replacement. I want to change the palette to 1. Do I use ASM or is there a trick I can learn? As far as I know ASM uses hex and I know nothing about it. |

Are you talking about the Sprite Map16? Agh, I need to add this to the FAQ sooner or later. Editing the sprite's MAP16 will NOT, I repeat, NOT edit the ROM. Fu put it in there in case somebody would find a way to edit the sprites manually, so that it would look correct in LM. If you want to edit the sprite's palettes, download Sprite Paint. (However, for some reason, it won't work with enemies with palette 8 (Like Monty Mole, Certain platforms, Mega Mole and others. Probably hardcoded somehow.) |

Originally posted by Smallhacker Nintendo probably wanted to compress data... or save data... anyway, they probably removed the address to show what palette those sprites use, and since there is no palette set for them... they go to the first sprite palette available. That is just my theory. That doesn't save to the rom... it just saves a file in the same folder as the rom that shows the changes in LM. Only if you have made your own sprites... *still waiting for sprite editor...* |

Damn! Just when I was beginning to understand blocks, I thought I knew it all! I remember a long time ago, before I knew how to use custom palettes, I managed to change mario's colours exept for the white and black (ASM hardcoded). I wonder if it has anything to do with that... |

You can permanently change Mario's palette by editting it on a level without custom palettes enabled. |
