Indeed, I have to agree with this. And many people refer the fall of World trade center as "11 september", very much like in the Harry potter books and Voldermort. People can't be that afraid to say World trade center.

And well, i'm going to avoid the TV today. Especially the american channels and just have fun.

...wasn't there more people killed in Iraq by america than people in the WTC collapse? I'm not saying that flying a plane into WTC is right...

And today will just be a normal day for me.

You know what's worse? Some people get high and mightily offended when others decide to do anything other than mourn on September 11. I'm not going to link to it because I don't want to set off an inter-board argument, but I can tell you that a friend showed me a link in which some guy was "sickened" by the posts made by people on some left-leaning boards on 9/11 in recent years. I could understand taking offense to, say, people making fun of the terrorist attacks, but there was nothing even remotely close to that. One example of a "sickening" post: a remembrance of the 9/11/1973 Chilean coup in which the US government helped overthrow socialist Salvador Allende, who had been elected by the people, and installed authoritarian right-wing asshat Augusto Pinochet in his place. Over the next 17 years, 3,000 Chileans were killed by Pinochet's regime. So I suppose that if you live in the US, you're not allowed to acknowledge that other terrible events happen to have occurred on a September 11 in the past, especially if our government gave a hand to the "terrible" side?

But then you should ask yourself this: if you had or knew someone close ot you who was in NYC or DC when this happened, and was affected by it, either by getting hurt or killed, would you still be acting and talking like this?

But then again, shit tends to happen all over the world and throughout time, and it is a shame that more than half the people of the entire world, not just of this country, could give a rat's arse about it.

I was going to buy this movie I've had my heart set on, but my dad is heading to reno for business issues. I have to wait another week. Now I'm really mourning.

Hiryuu, wtf? I just scrunch it up and go on my way.

EDIT: Anya, of course not. That was a point I made earlier, since it doesn't effect me so much on an emotional level, I'm not really feeling much of anything three years later.

Anal, that might be an understatement, and I might sounds, oh what's the word, "lame" for saying this, but I was walking to the video store one day and there was an amerian flag on the ground, the type that you put on your car's window, and I picked it up.

Call me dumb, but something about seeing that flag on the ground bothers me.

Oh, and I don't know how to fold it right either, but I've seen it done before at miltary funerals and the likes.

YD: I just woke up, sorry if I forgot that you mentioned that before.

There's a difference between blatant disrepect by throwing it on the ground and have very strict guidelines how a flag should be creased.

Interesting fact, me and my dad always minimize the importance of 9/11. My cousin's girlfriend had family that died in the attack when they were visiting from Brazil and other places. Interesting fact, it doesn't change anything. Thank you god for instilling something called Freedom of Choice on man

"And I am sure that the AIDS lady didn't care too much about 9/11. It most likely didn't affect her directly, so she focused on more important aspects of her life. such as, why does a certain pale American boy keep generalizing her as African when she clearly lives in Biera, Mozambique."

Sure she does, ever since that happened, America has stopped sending the same amount of aid to those nations, and has been too wrapped up in the Middle East to care. A lot of nations have, so countries like France are stuck picking up the bill.

Interesting fact, how do you know she lives in Mozambique? Why not in Kenya, or maybe in South Africa, how about the Ivory Coast, Mauritania, Congo. Hell, all of Africa is infested with that horrid disease. So, for your information, these places are all in a continent called Africa, which sits between the Indian Oceon and the Atlantic Ocean. To the North is the Mediterranean and Europe. And there are almost no countries in that entire continent that aren't starving or suffering. So, me saying "African" can denote any of those poor people.

And I'm a Canadian-Ukranian, not an American, get your facts right swine.

I'm sorry, can you explain why you quoted me and responded with that? If there was any point, it flew over my head.

Incidentally I already had a BBQ today. The one thing that sucks about the terrorist attacks on this date is that it's my grandmother's birthday, who happens to be my favorite relative of the family. Makes it hard to celebrate.
