Why are people afraid of Clowns, dolls, Chuck E. Chease, and some others of the like? Are you afraid of any of these?
(Apart from the fact that their colourful, they interact with you and they alway seem to be happy)

For some unknown reason I happen to be creeped out by all of the above.

Clowns freak me out, but not really. For the most part, I'm just messing around.

Must be because of all those "scary" clown movies that were made back in the 80's.

The best clown, though, is that one from "House of a 1000 Courpses".

Most clowns I see aren't all happy. I've even had one shuffle past and growl at me.

I don't like Clowns, and I don't like those porcelain harlequin dolls either. The harlequin dolls freak me out more than the clowns do.

Clowns on TV don't scare me or anything, it's clowns in real life that I don't like. It's not fear... it's that they make me feel awkward... so do people dressed up as mascots for that matter, in animal suits and such. I just feel... silly standing even near them.

Ditto for people dressed as Santa.

I don't care much of any of those. None of those bother me except for that clown thingy on that one movie "It" Argh that reminds me of someone ..oh well damnit but yeah they usually don't scare me and along with all those other things. I think I was a little freaked out when I was younger because of that movie "Childs Play" and I thought my stuffed animals or my one doll would come alive .

i think it all depends on the preformer too. If the clown is either hating themself or waaaay too into being a clown, the bad vibe begins to flow.

And i can undersatnd a child being fearful of the clown. They are already afraid of ordinary strangers, so something irregular as a clown would cause shit-fits.

I myself have a job as a childrens photographer. And while we do not dress up as clowns, we do wear silly hats. which, in their own way, are clown like. And of course, there are the frightend childern. But i find that if you give them a minute to access their surroundings, as well as play with a ball with 'em, they calm down feel better.

I think the 'fear of clowns' is just anohter stupid fucking trend.

So is this whole trend with poeple and their SUPPOSED insanties.
Its so trendy to be crazy.
its annoying.

look at all the dumbfucks wearing shirts that say overused things like "Dont piss me off, im running out of places to hide the bodies" or "The voices in my head tell me what to do..."

ITS CRAP.

Theres this trend about being crazyy, and it includes being afraid of clowns.

In fact, there are VERY FEW people who have a TRUE case of clown-ophobia or whatever. People just sya it for attention.

But I actually *am* crazy. Well, clinically depressed and suffering an anxiety disorder anyways. I hope that when you say "crazy" you mean people that are psychotically ill, not people like me that are more neurotic than anything.

But with the clowns, it's not so much fear, but kinda like a heightened social phobia. I have enough of a general fear of people, let alone those that are dressed strangely, act strangely and attract attention. Having attention drawn to me makes me nervous, and having an unpredictable looney in my face makes me nervous too.

The harlequin dolls still freak me out though. Normal dolls are okay, but the harlequin ones are weird.

I never been afraid of clowns, however I have been scared of "fur-suiters" or mascots. As kid I was very scared of them, I sort of knew back then that there was humans in them. And that what made them even more scarier.

Now I call them fur-suiters whenever i'm in a amusent park, but that's joking around. Sometimes I even feel poor for them, being in a sweaty warm suit on a warm day.

I've done that job, at the San Diego Zoo. It's not too bad really, as far as low-paying temporary jobs go. It's unusual and interesting and, at least where I worked, attracted an interesting (read: wierd) crowd of people. Fun experience.

Sweating is a pain in the ass (especially when "Big Fat Christian Loser" Andy was working, because he stank and claimed to be allergic to the cleaning spray). But, more than the heat, personally I hated how every second person said "YOU MUST BE HOT IN THERE" like they were being sympathetic or insightful or somesuch nonsense. It was annoying. People can be staggeringly unoriginal creatures.

Anyways - you're only out there for a short time, and you get substantial breaks in between each bit of time in the suit, so the heat isn't so bad. Gotta keep hydrated though.

Picture of me on the job. I'm Digby The Naked Mole-Rat in that photo. Goofy looking thing, so it meant it was really hard to not scare kids. I got the hang of being super-cute though, and was apparently the only one that enjoyed, and was good at, being that particular character.

The key with the job in general is that you have to exaggerate all movements, since you're playing a "larger than life" character. Otherwise you look creepy, lurching around not moving much, like a brightly coloured zombie.

There's only one thing I fear more than clowns.

Mimes.

As for Kitten Yiffer's mascots, I wanna kick the local mascot's ass big time but Jackie won't let me

you forgot flying things...

none of the above freak me out, but they annoy me, which makes me want to viciously attack them despite the human behind the suit...

not that I've EVER done anything of that sort....

Well, the ICP clowns and stuff like that scare me but that's as far as clowns go. Now dolls...ah a chill just went down my spine. Have you ever seen a chinese doll with a white face and black eyes. That seriously scares me. Has any one ever played "Genma Onjmusha" I played it for a while me fear of these dolls could come from this game. Whenever I play a game or watch a movie I really get into it so some of that shit freaks me out. Anyway on that game. I was being stalked by this little hover doll. She was everywhere. I remember. I had just killed a really big demon who carried an ax. I was really feeling good. I walk through a door. Look around, strange no demons. so I go over to a vase about as tall as my guys chest. just as I swing my sword a chinese doll launches out of it at me. Latching itself onto my throat with it's teeth, It's fucking teeth, draining all my health. Watching me fall over with blood streaming out of my neck it "innocently" laughs. Like a little girl might laugh, just like in a fucking horror movie. Ever since I've never looked at those dolls the same. *Begins cussing*
