| Ten bucks says that unprotect patch works for his hack and his hack only. Screw it, 10000000 bucks. I've actually tried to make the same thing, just out of curiosity, and of course it didn't work. I have another theory, but a patch that unlocks every locked ROM simply could not exist. EDIT: Corrupted .zip file the first time I tried to download, the page was broken the second time. | Kratos Aurion: Unp1_1.ips, Unp1_2.ips and Unp1_3.ips will unprotect any MW locked rom by applying all 3 patches to the rom with LIPS. This will recover the overworld, the custom blocks and will activate the original levels from the ROM. unp2_1.ips works with some roms bazed on DW but you need to apply unp2_2.ips to. Akmlm: use DAP (download accelerator plus) or somting similar or give me an ftp adress to upload it. BTW, use "Save Target As" or "Dowload with DAP" ... (edited by orynider on 09-06-04 08:05 AM) |

| The only patch I was able to download is that dwory.zip you linked in here. It went with about 6.5 - 7.8 k/sec, what is just normal using my ISDN connection. I mirrored it on my free webspace account, but as for the rest of files: Get another host http://mitglied.lycos.de/mithrandir21/dwory.zip (345k) Edit: The included readme is a joke - mostly containing the Demo World description from FuSoYa's homepage  (edited by Surlent on 09-06-04 11:44 AM) |

| Well, played it. Gotta say something, I hope it patched wrong. I could only access yoshis land, then i could go down to a star road that was invisible then i could go to the left to another invisible star road, or to the right to nothing. But honestly from what I saw, I don't think I am missing much. | |||

| I do not know wat problems they have with the server at 3x.ro, they say the files names are ilegal. So I renamed the file to: http://pubory.3x.ro/pub/patch/unlock.zip Kario: Use LIPS for the patch and the dwory.srm file. You can make me an OW for my next hack, I made one but all leves go to level 0 and I do not know how to fix it. I can send you my OW in 2 or 3 days in an fresh rom patch to see wat is the problem. | So, just as a test I got the unprotect patches and copied my locked ROM and applied the patches to first three patches to the copy, as is specified. It unlocked the ROM, alright, but that's not the only thing it did. It recovered the overworld's appearance, but it made all the overworld entrances link to level 0. Beating the levels enables going up for both normal and secret exit, but this is pretty easily fixed if you remember what goes where. I'm somewhat impressed. It also brought back the original levels from Super Mario World, graphics and all. Map16 was also reset. Both of these are easily recoverable, however - most people are likely to have the graphics and map16 on hand. It says it's supposed to and if you have the levels saved to .mwl files you can recover those as well. Seems good enough. Patches 2_1 and 2_2 had much worse impact. It unlocked it but also killed the data and blocks and pretty much everything else. It's funny; it's the exact same effect as the what Keikonium's patches supposedly make, though I haven't tried them. I suspect these were taken from Keikonium; this makes 1_1, 1_2, and 1_3 very likely to have been stolen from someone I'm not aware of. Without crediting, of course. Just like Orynider does with what appears to be everything else he's done. What do you want to bet he stole all good levels that are in his hack?
