Have we officially defined "Religion" yet? Because that has a hell of a lot to do with it.

Evolution and the Big Bang are theories that cant be proven. Even people who think it might be true should know that it's just a theory. So why is it taught in school as if it is fact?

Last time I checked, it wasn't taught as actual fact, more as the "most likely" situation.

Or at least, it isn't supposed to be taught in school as fact. I'm sure the rules get bent from time to time.

To be completely honest... I don't think I've ever actually been taught the Big Bang Theory at all, much less as a fact. Don't remember where I did hear about it, though.

At any rate... Whether it's taught as theory or fact, religion can not be taken any further. After all... How would one prove God's existence?

Can I say something that may change all of your lives as you will ever know it?

Shut the fuck up =D

What I see here is "you prove that" "no u prove that" and so on. Until God comes down from the clouds and says "YE HAVE ALL SINNED AND ARE DAMNED", or Aliens come down from the sky to show us video footage of the past, we don't know, and all we're (ie: not me) going to do is this Prove This Prove That war that'll never finish.

I say thanks to who ever re-opened this thread, I like this sort of debate.

I just want to remind people to use actual facts and references, and do not do personal insults or ethnic, religous, or racist comments or this will be closed again...This has the potential for a meaningful and well fought debate on both sides, lets not ruin it people!!!

As for the Earth being 6000 years old, you better have the damn verse that says "GOD CREATED EARTH 6000 YEARS AGO" or *buzzer sound* sorry, please try again. You can't argue with science, so please stop trying.

And Acid Man...yes I know we creationists believe in God, and that he greated the heavens and the Earth...but while we can't prove God ~does~ exist, you can't prove he doesn't. Until then, I guess we all have to let bygones be bygones. You can't prove it either way, so I say we relish in science and enjoy what we find out.

Btw....POLO!

It doesnt actually SAY that the Earth is 6000 years old, but it DOES give you numbers to add up. It says that adam had a kid at a certain age and then it goes on to say that kid had a kid at a certain age and it goes and goes until Jesus. This allows you to pinpoint the approximite date of many events in the bible.

Ah, hold on a second...

Aside from the fact that I fear you're straying from the date of the earth's creation (So you can find out when Adam was created/born? What does that have to do with the Earth?), you still technically would have "proof" if this is true - a long series of Bible verses perhaps, but still "proof" by your definition of the word. I don't mean to continue a petty argument of "You prove it!" "No, YOU prove it!", but you're obviously trying to dodge providing your "proof".

I thought I'd post this to mainly a) Explain "The Big Pop Theory" and b) To insult Nebetsu's horrible maddox knock-off website which sucks ass.

So a)

The Big Pop Theory by me (as far as my knowlage goes it's mine): Well first there was empty space and the space sectors were chillin' and space sector #1299399943030304b was like "Hey it's kinda boring here, eh?" and space sector #1299399943030304a was like "Yeah... wanna do something?" space sector #1299399943030304b replied with "I know lets spontaneously materialize things!" space sector #1299399943030304a was up with this new idea and said "OK! Were gonna have to call up every one though" So after a while all the space sectors agreed to do this spontaneou materializing thing.

and then.... POP! .... All things in the universe just... spontaneously materialize. The space sectors were happy with there new things...

Then one day they found humans after space sector #212393939343333949494994f told every one of earth and how alot of them called the space sectors "God" or other such names. The space sectors soon found out "God" and other such beings were not them. The space sectors were angered becasue the humans did not give them credit for giving them life only to these other beings they could not see. So from that day the space sectors decided to shun the humans and earth forever and cause dumbfounding phenomena which was a confusing addon to what the humans called "Science".

THE END weeeee!

oh and now for b)
Nebetsu your maddox knock-off website is horrible I read some of the articles as well as most of your posts and you just sound like a whining five year old. Maddox would probably kick your ass till' you were dead if he had the chance. Not to mention the whining, most of your "rants" don't apply to the general public it's just video game loser related crap. I'd also like to mention the appalling name of this topic which originaly brought me here to insult you. I don't think there's much else to say the whole your a whining five year old wraps it up pretty good.

So there you have it a ignorant theory and a insulting post! It all seems just as plausible as what everybody else is talking about here

I don't feel like reading this entire thread, so I'm just going to systematically disprove everything you said at the start.

First: The big bang theory is FALSE! Think about this. This is very simple. There is a law that states what when an object is spinning and a piece breaks off, then the piece that breaks off spins in the same direction. We start with one singular dense spinning atom that explodes. This means that all the matter in the universe should be spinning in a single direction. That's not the case. Planets and even whole galaxies spin backwards. This proves that the big bang could not have happened.
When two objects spinning the same way colide, one may reverse the direction of its spinning. Go play with some tops for a while, you can get it to happen too.

Next: Why is the only tree ever found by man 4300 year old when the flood, biblically was supposed to happen 4400 years ago?
There's a tree in my back yard that's not 4300 years old, so the only tree ever found by man is not 4300 years old. Also, if you meant the oldest tree that was ever found, then you need to realize two things:
1) The Bible can be off by 100 years, easily.
2) Most things do not have remains after that long, it only happens through luck. Gaps of 100 years are common in fossil records.

Next: The Earth spins a little slower all the time. It's spin is slowing down. This means that 65 million years ago the Earth would have had to spin at such a fast rate that everything on it would be flinged off. This means the earth cant be that old.
Give me a rate of spin speed decay and proof of it.

Next: The moon gets more and more far away from the Earth. This means it would have had to have been closer. Well 65 million years ago it would have been just over the surface of the Earth. This means the Earth cant be that old.
The earth can be older than the moon, llama. Like the previous one, you need to actually have the rate of orbital decay to provide much of an argument.

Next: If evolution is true then what about the rule that when things are left alone, they deteriorate?
Old rules of thumb can conflict with science easily. Guess which one that makes wrong?

Also, nothing is being left alone in evolution - animals are living beings too.

And your question implies that evolution isn't true in the first place. There's an island on the Galapagos where evolution kinda got stuck in a certain species of finch. Stay there for a year, and you'll see that the beak size of that species will change based on whether there were more nuts or seeds in the previous year. Go steal some finches and feed one population only seeds and the other only nuts for a few centuries and you can bet you'll end up with two different species.

Next: According to the bible, 4400 years ago there was a flood that destroyed everthing. 8 people survived. If you compare the population growth with this, it matches, but if humans have been around as long as scientists say they have, then the whole Earth would be filled entirely of people and nothing else.

The rate of population growth has changed throughout history, and there are such things as plagues, wars, famines, and natural disasters.

Precisely. Another group of theories confirms this ("The balance of nature"). Place two of each a race in a forest - hares and foxes is a good example. As the foxes eat more hares, they will also lessen in population since they won't have as much to eat anymore, and the hares will increase after a while since the probability to get eaten is less, and so the foxes will get more food and increase in population, only to decrease again, etc. This will happen almost indefinitely. And again, there are natural disasters and large epidemies.

Why should we? I'm not that into evolution, but a rational look at the world makes it seem somewhat plausible. Evolutionism has no relation to spirituality, apart from any spirituality externally applied to it by individuals. Same goes for the big bang. Nor are these metaphysical theories. It's just some scientists giving their best guesses about some areas of scientific study. Those happen to be fairly well popularized. Some string theorists have proposed that the world is composed of 11 dimensions. Does that conflict with the bible? (ONO 12 - 1 = 11, satan!).

Anyways, a lot of people seem to think that you can actually "prove" that something is physically true in a very real sense. In reality, science is empirical, and theories are based upon observations most of the time. Quantum mechanics tends to be a special case, where math weirdos spend hours coming up with theoretical models and then they go into the field to test them.

You see, the only type of enterprise where you can prove without a shred of doubt whether something is true is philosophy (same as mathematics). And the only reason that undeniable proof can be given in those systems is that they are built around statements that are by the initial construction, true. (aka axioms.) But that kind of proof is more or less useless in the real world b/c you don't know if the assumptions you picked are actually true for the real world.

So you could get people to agree that evolutionism, big bangism, and the like are BELIEF SYSTEMS, but never a religion. Primarily b/c they have nothing to do with spirituality.

And it could be said, some Christian people says that Big bang is done by God or even proof for god.

And the world being created in six days, how long was thoose days. A day dosen't have the same lenghts on all planets.

And I say, nothing is 100.00% sure. Many times in history things in science that was said being "fully trutful and correct" didn't turn out to be later. *cough*Solar System*cough*
