I'm not downloading and watching the movie, but as for the Earth spinning slower, if that is in fact true, I'll theorize that it's due to the movement of mass away from the Earth's center due to our mining, oil drilling, mass construction, etc., which would reduce the Earth's moment of inertia and subsequently, its rotational velocity.

Edit: Man, that is one big ass run-on sentence.

in actuallity the moon is moveing closer to earth at about a rate of 1.232 cm a year, so we dont have to much to worry about. Granted that number will only increase over time, but thats a long ways away. The mass of the moon has been increasing over time for meteor's and blah blah which in such increases it's gravetational pull and we are pulling each other at a faster rate.

The Big Bang is a thoery yes, just like more of science and quantom mechanics. Thats how science has evolved and bettered it's self by people creating these theory's and other proveing or disproveing them!!

And the Earth spinning faster is true yes, but we have located and predicted some objects in space that would apear to have orbits that could take up to millions or years to complete, maybe there is an outside force that comes around that can have negative or positive effects on the planet. Our science is very primative to how big and mysterious the universe is!

Evolution takes years upon decades upon ages, evolution is in actual fact beings learning from thier mistakes and bettering themselfs and the others of thier kind, From physical improvement, to mental and social status. And that is social and moral evolution. As for physical over time and such like that, it is correct, you have to factor in disease, war, and the human desire to kill on another!!! That the enviroment around a life form will determain weather the lifeform could addapt or not. when it does addapt to the new enviroment or situation we call this the theory of evolution. If it cant survive, it dies..

The bible is in my theory (and again there is that word theory) a story book some farmer wrote for his kids, and some wanderer took it as some religous icon!! It's nice to have faith in all for some, gives people that satifaction that there is someone who will always listen to there problems and that there life after death will have some meaning one way or another. It's a hope fact to keep some people who cant grip reatliy sane. Although there is not proof that a god does not exist, my money is on he doesnt!

The question that baffles people for all time, and probably will for eternity is "What Came First?" to our scientific knowledge something always has to come first, that question disproves evolution at the begining not the process, and god himself... But because we are here and we exist try and not let it bother you so much...

If you wanna think to much go watch the matrix or read a sci-fi novel!

Well basically everyone wants proof. I think this should help out a lot.

*points to a "Holy Bible"*.... Get reading.

And I fully agree with Nebetsu. And if evolution is true start chasing shooting starts yelling at your brother to come back, because according to scientists/evolutionists we came from stars.... So it must be our brother right?

Just a quick comment on this matter, in reference to Earth's spin and the rotation of the Moon. Here's a site from NASA with various questions answered, you have to scroll to find the topic but at least it's some info. The Earth's spin is in fact slowing down at milliseconds per century, due to the shift in water from ice melting and whatnot. At least, that's the theory I've heard. And because of this slowing of Earth's rotation, the gravitational field is not as strong, so the Moon is growing in distance. According to this site, someday it will be locked in place with us which will be very very bad. Who knows.

http://helios.gsfc.nasa.gov/qa_earth.html

And just a question, has anyone thought of combining the theories to work together? Assuming the Big Bang is true, who's to say there isn't a conductor? Just a thought.

...That... But... Wha? I've never seen evolution try to tell us that we came from stars. More importantly, shooting stars aren't stars to begin with, but space debris. Moreover, you seem to be getting things confused. Saying that one thing leads to another does not make them brothers. The elements making up the human body are indeed the products of stars, but only a VERY long time after the fact. Saying people and stars are brothers would be somewhere akin to saying that people and water are direct relatives.

Now... For the original post. As far as the spin and lunar location go... The best comparison I can think of is a parabolic equation. The moon would not go the same speed away from the world constantly. It would instead move at an increasing rate, as gravity would have less and less hold on it, meaning the rate it moves now is NOWHERE NEAR the rate it moved millions of years ago. Well... It is kinda, but on such a small scale, it's a massive difference.

Basically what I am saying is I dont beleive anything that has to due with Evolution... This brings me to bring my post from my board...

From my board.

I think the one with the most proof would be christianity. I mean most of the things in Revalation are happening now. So I really dont think I will live past 30 or so. But thats another story. Basic things that are in the bible have proof behind them. And I heard from my friends dad (who is very very very very religious) that Turkey is letting the USA go there and dig out Noah's Ark. Which will show more proof that christianity is true. And for the people that go "then how are there different type of dogs?" Something for you to check out.... Kent Hovan's videos he shows the differences of Evolution/Creation and shows how creation has more truth behind it.

I dled the seminar b/c I was bored. Though my computer has no sound (I'm at a campus comp), I can tell it was utter bs, just from watching it. Why do creationists have such a bone to pick with scientists that support evolution? Do most creationists study such things? Would you trust a hair dresser to tell you all about the specifics of cosmetics marketing? No b/c it's not their specialty. And though they have a right to be skeptical, you'd think they could be a little more open minded then blindly trusting the Bible for everything. IMO that's idolatry - listening to a book more than to your heart and mind, what your real life experience says to you. Does it really make sense that with such a vast and seemingly old cosmos that it was all made ~4600 years ago?

And it seems there's another trend in religious "science" lately, this notion that we have to be watching how our newest "science" points to the existence of God. The philosophers (philosophers typically have massive IQs) couldn't do it [prove the existence of God], what makes us think that physical science will?

I'm sorry but ficticious works don't apply when you're trying to proove something.

Hell, I could whip out my Star Wars Encyclopedia and tell you that the Force exists just because it's in a book.

I've read through mine so many times before, but whenever I sit down and browse through it, I'm always finding stuff that I never knew. They really need to make an update to it though.

I just want to voice my own opinion, as a Christian, that I believe both theories could be quite easily combined. Obviously evolution is a fact, it's visible everywhere around us. Interspecies evolution...well let's not discuss that. I don't think anyone will ever agree on that. As for the Big Bang theory, etc etc...as I stated before, there could be a conductor. I am more than willing to look at scientific fact and evidence, as long as it's feasible, and I think the respect should be mutual. After all, not too long ago science "proved" the Earth was flat.

If you think Evolution and Christianity mix, you are VERY mistaken.

You know...no offense, but it's Christians like you who give the rest of us a bad name. And for the nonbelievers in here, excuse me for getting religious, but I suppose it's the only way to get through to this kid.

Of course evolution and Christianity can mix, science was created by God. You cannot disprove science and evolution, it's happening as we speak and has been for the past hundreds of years. Hell, even humans are evolving, or don't you watch the Discovery Channel? No, I'm not going to download your zip file from God only knows where, because I know exactly what type of thing I'll be watching. It will be an extremist point of view who does nothing but damn the very things that build our world. The world ~is~ evolving whether you like it or not. Get over it.

In case you didn't know, there is a trend in Christianity now. It's called open-mindedness. Look it up. Just because people believe differently than we do doesn't make them bad. In fact, we should take every opportunity to learn about their thoughts because who knows, it just might be a good point or something worth learning. I attend a Baptist university, even though I am thankfully not Baptist, and we had a discussion lecture about this very subject. It is our job as Christian scholars to learn about all aspects of life, and how they connect to God and religion. Theology cannot be separated from science and math. There is no definition between the two. Can't you see God was a mathematician?

Anyway...I'll climb off my soapbox now before I'm either killed by religious extremists or the atheists.
