I'm actually looking to get back into rap. Anyone have any suggestions for meh? I listen to The Notorious B.I.G., the Beastie Boys, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, The Streets, and Eminem, but I consider the following absolute crap: Nelly, 50 Cent and all of the stupid possee he has, Fat Joe or whatever his name is, Usher, and Nas. I don't know if we have any actual rap listeners here, but I'll find out |

Usher is R&B, well mostly. Depends on what you are looking for. Something fun to listen to? Lil' Jon or Ludacris will do. Kanye West is good, smart rapper that he is. Jay-Z is worth a listen. 2Pac. Come on, you know who he is. If you don't like him, that is understandable. If you are looking for Underground, well, I can't help you there. |

Blackalicious and Jurassic 5 kick ass all over town. And if you don't mind white rap, Sage Francis is really kickass, but he's kind of angsty sometimes. >=( |

If you can find it (Biscuithead records went out of business I think, and I can only find their new stuff on google) the "Porn Theatre Ushers" are pretty damn good for white rap. In fact, along with the Beastie Boys, they're the only rap band I can stand...

PST/Q (raps in swedish), Organism XII (raps in swedish), Looptroop, Promoe, Xzibit, The Beatnuts, Dead Prez, The Coup. Those are all I can think of right now. All great groups. The first four are from sweden, so I don't know how easy it'll be to find them. I could probably give you some stuff if you want though |

I must confess. *sighs* I can only stand to listen to Eminem and D12. So, those two I think are good.

I've only heard one rap group that I like and that's Shakka Zombie. Try the song, "Shiroi Yami No Naka" by them. It's pretty good.

Necro, MC Hawking, A Tribe Called Quest, and 95% of all reggae kicks ass. Alot of the mid-70s rap, during the formative years is bad ass. NWA, Ice-T, shit like that is good.

Fun fact: Ice-T put out the album that recieved the very first "Parental Advisory" sticker on it. And can we all agree that the combination of Anthrax and Public Enemy with "Bring Tha Noize" kicked much ass? Unlike the Metallica/Ja Rule crossover that was "We Did It Again". :/ That...yeah, I'm going to leave that one alone. I hate Ja Rule with a passion. (edited by Legion on 09-04-04 01:26 AM) |
