From the looks of it, I don't think Karl will pose much of a threat..

Might as well give some articles about it:

News story for April 22.
Another one with images on the side bar.
Report from NOAA.

Quote:

On the early evening of 20 April 2004, a small cluster of five supercell thunderstorms produced 14 tornadoes (as of 9 am 5/02/04) across portions of north central and northeast Illinois; 1 F3, 2 F2, 4 F1, 7F0 on the Fujita scale. Twelve of the tornadoes occurred within the Chicago National Weather Service County Warning Area (NWS CWA). Visit the Davenport and Lincoln National Weather Service web pages for details on the tornadoes that occurred in their respective County Warnings Areas.

...

THE THIRD TORNADO DEVELOPED ABOUT 2 MILES WEST SOUTHWEST OF
GRANVILLE. THIS TORNADO HAD A 15 1/2 MILE PATH THROUGH
GRANVILLE...ACROSS THE ILLINOIS RIVER AND INTERSTATE 39...INTO THE
TOWN OF UTICA. IT DISSIPATED ON A RIDGE ABOUT 1/2 MILE NORTHEAST OF
UTICA. THIS TORNADO PRODUCED F3 DAMAGE IN UTICA AND ITS MAXIMUM
WIDTH WAS ABOUT 200 YARDS.

Out of 51 in the Midwest that night...and the one that did the most damage was the size of two football fields.

Holy crap is right. This is why I'm glad I don't live in Illnois.

Don't let Karl fool you because that hurricane might come to the states sometime.

Karl looks like it's going to stay at sea.

I'd be inclined to believe that because it's about TIME one of those things stays out there. We're overdue for that to happen.

Overdue for one to stay at sea? Is that even possible seeing as that's where they spawn from?

Tropical Storm Jeanne continued to slowly strengthen while it inched along north of the Bahamas early Monday, while the remnants of Ivan were drenching south Florida and slowly getting better organized.

At 11AM Monday, Jeanne was centered near 26.8N 71.5W or about 345 miles east of Great Abaco Island. This position is about 520 miles east of Miami, Florida. Jeanne was moving north at 7 mph.

Satellite images and reports from a hurricane hunter plane confirm that Jeanne has gotten a little better organized, with its maximum winds up to 65 mph and its pressure down to 992 mb or 29.29 inches. Upper-level conditions favor slow strengthening and official forecasts bring Jeanne back to minimal hurricane status by Tuesday

Jeanne is forecasted to do a slow, looping, half circle track that will take it further east and away from any land. Jeanne will be over 700 miles from the U.S. by the end of the week.

Jeanne has killed at least 90 people in Haiti and at least 3 people in Puerto Rico, where it produced several days of heavy rain and numerous mudslides.

Meanwhile, the remnants of Ivan were located near the east coast of south Florida early Monday after making a circuitous journey through Virginia and then southward back into the Atlantic over the weekend.

Showers and storms increased around the system`s broad center overnight as it moved over warmer waters. WeatherBug live sensors in Fort Pierce and St. Lucie, FL had both seen over an inch of rain on Monday through 9AM EDT.

Ivan`s remnants will drift west through the Gulf of Mexico over the next few days and have the chance to gradually redevelop into a tropical depression.

And I looked at the Florida radar this morning, and it seems that Ivan is back in Florida! I was wondering why we were getting gusty winds.

Jeanne has me worried for a while since they had no clue where it was going to go.

They thought it was going to up north and hit no one.

Now it's killed so many in Hati (they are never ready for these sort of storms it seems), made a U-turn is now is set to hit the east US.

Oy...this is what I get for not watching these things for a few days.

And Karl and Lisa are right behind.
