| I can't find my NES power adapter, and none of the local stores have any replacements (grr), so I'm wondering if someone with an NES (North America) could tell me the voltage and amperage (if listed) for the NES adapter. I have a top loader, but I believe the power adapter is the exact same as the normal NES. | |||

| I use the Sega Genesis adapter for my NES. It physically fits and surprisingly... it works as well as a standart NES adapter! (I got both consoles, US versions) |

| You need ANYTHING with an output of 9vDC. Most Telephone Answering Machines use the same plug end, and use 9vDC. Cymoro, Im surprised your system doesnt quit on you when youre playing. You should use a 9vDC output. It will run more smoothly. Yeah, the sega genesis ones are save to use, even though theyre 10VDC output as well. Just dont go any higher than that. Also, if you look for it on google, you can mod your NES to use a computer power cord quite easily. |

| I know that there are multi-adapters out there. I had one about ten years ago and used it for my gameboy and keyboard. it came with different sized plugs and the bulk of it had a slider dial to dictate the voltage (or whatever). I don't remember it's name, but I'm certain that there are dozens of name brand versions of it. | |||

| Careful, though.. plug size and voltage aren't necessarily related, and polarity seems arbitrary from appliance to appliance. Watch out if you're picking a generic adapter - make sure you have the right polarity before you plug it in. I've fried electronics before because of that. (edited by Jagori on 08-26-04 10:33 PM) |

| While we're discussing adaptors, anyone know the specs for the Genesis AC adaptor? I managed to come across two Genesii (first and second versions) and only one has an adaptor. Also, the first edition one has a Sega CD strapped to it and that doesn't have an adaptor either. And I believe the first edition (or maybe the second) has a broken RF switch: the plug on the console's end is missing. What can I get to replace it (and preferably something with A/V plugs)? | |||

| Genesis parts are interchangeable with Atari 2600 parts, curiously enough, as well as SNES parts, I believe. Not A/V cables, but AC Adaptors. Here's an odd one; Genesis and 2600s both use the same controller port. This meant I was able to play Genesis games with the 2600 stick and 2600 games with a Genesis controller. That was pretty neat, IMO. |

I think some people are getting the power adapter and the TV cable mixed up. If I remember right the power for NES was different than SNES. The TV cable for SNES works on NES. It also works on N64 and GCN. |
