I was looking at ||bass's profile and I seen there was no projected date for 5000 posts. Is this because this was implemented or something? I looked around at others and it seems theres is there.:/ Anyone know why this is?

I'm pretty sure it's a small function. But dunno why it would be here...

Randy, it's not really a bug. I've seen a lot of users on the board that have low post counts and have an extremely low daily post rate not have the projected date to 5000 posts. I assume that if the date of projection is beyond a reasonable time (possibly beyond 2099), then the board won't even bother figuring out the date.

Actually I think it's preset that people with very low post average dosen't ge their 5000 project date for their comming 5000th post, this maybe was for preventing oddness when people really have very low posting average. But well, I get Jesper to comment on this... (after all, he is one of the people who is used to the board code...) (edited by Kitten Yiffer on 08-25-04 07:12 PM) |

That makes sense I suppose. I was just curious. I was like . I think that is a good thing to implement. That is also pointing out to ||bass to start posting. Just kidding. Anyways I suppose this could be closed now. (edited by Randy53215 on 08-25-04 07:19 PM) |

Jesper just a quick question regaurding this feature. Persay the board is up this long. Hopefully it will be... but what will happen when the board pass's the date May 18, 2033? Will the boards time and all get screwed up?

well I'm only 22 years old... and 2033 is only 29 years from now so I will be 51.... I can't think of any forseeable reason off the top of my head I won't still my forum then...

Ok so that means what will happen after 2033? I am sure there will be tons of Acmlmboards by then. Not like there already isnt now.

that is an interesting point. Why not have the date add one day every day. That way its always the same time away. Yeah, I think I said that right.

Is it that much of a problem? Really?

it's a signifigantly larger problem, than your pointless spammy post, if that's waht you mean

It's a problem only if the board code remains completely unmodified all the way up to 2033. If the board is still here. Which I think is very unlikely.

A bit of input here, is condition 2 there for any reasons other than an additional layer of error checking? Because I can't think of a time when the projected date would be in the past yet the post count less than 5000. Am I missing something here?

I thought the same thing, but it might have to do with negative numbers. Then again I think they return false on the "do we have less than 0.5 posts" thing, since it's just an if (!$postnumbervar).

Let me rephrase that...is there a way to meet condition 2 without also meeting condition 1 (Given that a negative post count is certainly "lower than 1")?

Probably not, I guess it's more of a just in case thing. BTW: Come 2033, we just go into the code and change the timestamp to 4000000000. |
