As some of you may remember, I've dabbled in making computer wallpaper before. Now, I have about 60 1024x768 PNG files that I would like to spread to the world! What I am looking for is a web server or photo album service (preferably free) that is capable of handling approx. 70-80 megs of PNG images.

Most photo album services that I have found do not offer full resolution online viewing/saving. Since these are wallpapers, full res. viewing and saving must be available!

Any suggestions?

I would suggest Photobucket. However, I believe Photobucket resizes PNG images upon upload. If you do decide to use them, I suggest converting them to .JPG files beforehand.

Try Photobucket. It's free, and they allow hotlinking.

Woop, I guess he beat you to it, Cymoro.
Anyway, Photobucket is good, however, as Jarukoth said, it does resize your images. Perhaps you could try Snapfish, I've heard not-too-bad things about it, but never tried it out.

Yeah, photobucket is what I use for my layout pic and my avatar. As you can see, it works very well.

Well, If I use Photobucket, I have to drastically lower the image quality. Apparrently, the filesize limit is 250kb, which is about 1/4 of the average filesize of my wallpapers... I'd prefer higher quality...

I Google'd Snapfish, and It does have unlimited file sizes, but to get the Hi-Res.download, people have to pay Snapfish... I don't want anybody charging for download of my wallpaper! (they can charge for prints all they want, but not for downloads).

Any other suggestions?

*sigh* his wallpapers are png images, which should be saved at full quality when optimizing to retain color. So thats not "all really," his images shouldn't be sized down.

Backgrounds should be JPG even if they're detailed... I recently held a wallpaper contest and people sent me bmps, pngs, gifs... Converting them to jpg makes them 250kb maximum without visible loss of quality... Remember it's a 1024x768 desktop background, not a 5000 dpi art project...

If they're too intricate and perfect for JPG you might want to get a job as a graphics designer and get your own host with the money you make :>

My hosting is $5 a month.... or $60 a year...

http://photo.netho.tk

I could install Coppermine for you, and you can upload whatever size pictures you want

and use up to HALF A GIG of harddrive space....

and it would be uber fast all the time, unlike SlowCrappyArt I mean Deviant Art which is usually just slow

Very tempting, but I'd rather go with a free site (for obvious reasons, the first being that I'm a broke 16 year-old) However, I'll keep your offer in mind.

I may resort to the JPG format, ONLY if I am still pleased with the quality.
