| Hey, here's a nifty idea... this might save on all the people that become non-posters over time.... allow people to unregister their own account if they want? like at the bottom of editprofile.php maybe have a link that says "cancel account" and then have a confirmation page. No real reason for the suggestion, just might help keep the board a little cleaner as it grows again. | |||

Err ... if someone wants to leave the board, he/she simply logs out, deletes the URL from the bookmarks or do the method: Go into editprofile.php, type in a random password so fast you cannot remember, log out and you don't have access to your account anymore  Unregistering accounts is useless; most active people who want to take a break from here won't want have their account unregistered at all. Posts and the user name would be gone as well as the registration date (which is much more worth than the number of posts imo |

And the fact that this thing can get dangerous for the user, especially if he somehow left the computer while being logged in here.  Besides, most of thoose non-posters are people who forget about this board. Not people that want to leave it. |

| Yeah, sadly it could get abused. You hear of all the newbies who are here who leave things logged in so their friend/brother/sister/cousin/uncle/dog/imaginaryfriend uses their account and spams the forum up? That friend/brother/sister/cousin/uncle/dog/imaginaryfriend could then delete that person's account.  ...removing all the bloody evidence attached to the user ID.  |

The only real advantage this would give is that it'd be easier for me to know the user isn't ever going to come back (I wouldn't make it delete the account, ChibiTaryn gave a good reason  ) ... and that'd just mean I'd delete a slightly bigger proportion of the inactive users, not too useful Besides, the only inactive users I delete are those who never posted much at all ... |
