The Prime Number Shitting Bear.

Does what it says on the tin. I've seen it numerous times during my online presence but can't remember where. I suddenly remembered it, found it and showed it to a few people.

Laxatives would be a nice idea... this bear is slow. But I bet it's doing high numbers if I leave it overnight...

And it's probably will make the whole computer lag when it have reached the big numbers. (computers is taking good time on controlling if a big number is a prime number or not )

Up to 4000, I wish he could work faster... I wonder who had the longest uptime with this bear.

Try leaving this program overnight, I actually starts wondering how long time it takes before it takes forever for each prime (and it probably lags for each one).

The highest prime number found consists of 80 numbers according to Jesper.

Is there any more proffensional program for counting out high prime numbers? There must be one somewhere.

Well, on this site the highest prime number is 2 to the power of 13,466,917 and it has 4,053,946 digits

This is a fairly old page so that number has probably been passed

There's a very simple proof that the number of primes is infinite.

I do wonder why people keep track of prime density though. I would think that it would approach zero as the number of primes went up. (Edit: well when I think about it maybe not.)

Interesting...

You have to wonder though... how high will the bear go?

Im not bothering to check though... I dont have that much time on my hands.

Letting that bear working in the backround dosen't waste your time...

...but it maybe wastes CPU time when it's going on the high values yeah.

That the number of primes is infinite is pretty obvious - there are infinitely many numbers, and as infinity times anything higher than 1 is (IIRC) defined to be infinity itself, chances are the number of primes are also infinite (as infinity times infinity times infinity would still be infinity, and thus a small chunk of infinity is also infinity).

The 80 numbers long is an error, obviously. I remembered part of an old assignment from one of my math books (from 1990 or so), saying a pretty old value calculated by a computer was the highest prime at the time, and I remember this to be 70 to 100 or so digits long.

Besides, Kitten Yiffer believes everything

Kitten Yiffer also brought up that it's a slow process. This is because the operating system is only letting the browser have a fraction of all cycles [of processing power], and the browser in return only lets the Javascript engine get a fraction of its cycles. The super computers you read about every now and then are pretty much designed to have a thin OS which can give the actual applications as many cycles as possible. They also have shitloads of RAM, ofcourse.
