Joy Division are a bajillion times better than Weezer >( if they don't win I'll cry. Like this: And also, I agree with Leg, Tears for Fears version of Mad World > Gary Jules' version. But I like Tears for Fears anyway |

holy. fucking. shit. excuse my profanaties, but this is, in my mind, no contest at all. if i may, i'll list off a few reasons why weezer is amazing: Only in Dreams Say it Ain't So The Good Life Sweater Song Across the See Butterfly In the Garage My Name is Jonas California Jesus, if there are a few songs in the world that move me emotionally, weezer has some of them: Only in Dreams, Say it Aint So... i still get chills every time i hear those. They are connected with a very special time in my life, i'm never letting those good memories go, they'll live on in verse and melody |

Hmm. Tuneless arty new-wave drearyness and a suicidal sacred cow versus two brilliant pop-rock albums and a steady descent into ineffectualness and cranky insanity after that. There's a common thread because both bands had brilliant beginnings then slid into mediocrity - Weezer with their last two albums, Joy Division post-Curtis as New Order. I'll go with Weezer because I am not at all impressed with what I have heard of New Order, and I feel Joy Division gets away too lightly, with too much praise and acclaim, for the same reason Nirvana does. Arwon: Why are you even mentoning New Order? This is Joy Division vs. Weezer, not New Order vs. Weezer. And I hate you all |

Mainly because it supports my convoluted attempt to find a line of commonality between them. New Order = the mediocrity after the brilliance just as Weezer's last two albums does. If that bothers you, just go with my second line of reasoning: "I feel Joy Division gets away too lightly, with too much praise and acclaim, for the same reason Nirvana does." ...and add as a conclusion to that, that I have noticed that Weezer is becoming "uncool" - seen as dorky and unfashionable... which is obscuring their two gem albums from a small amount of their deserved glory. Joy Division need no more boosters, Weezer does (not as much as they might after their next album). (edited by Arwon on 08-21-04 10:21 AM) |
