Gotta go with Weezer, considering they have done a lot of good stuff over the years, and I've never even heard of Joy Division...

Never heard of Joy Division either, and I'd go with Weezer anyways.

Weezer, because of songs like The Good Life, will always hold a special place in my heart.

I've never dug Weezer too much, but I like them. They aren't my favourite, but as far as their music goes...Ooooh oooh oh, I look just like Buddy Holly!

BLASPHEMY. Weezer's good. But Joy Division BLOWS them. Out of the water, that is.

Yes but I counter with this factoid:

Tears for Fears version of Mad World > Gary Jules' version

Actually Elmo, Ian Curtis wasn't the lead singer of Tears for Fears - but he was the astounding lead vocalist of the most important post-punk/goth rock band there ever bloody was. The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen and even the aforementioned Tears for Fears amongst others wouldn't have anything to stand on if it hadn't been for Joy Division. (Well, and Bauhaus, but I don't think they were quite as influential as JD)

Joy Division - my vote goes to thee. *goes and listens "Heart and Soul"*

"Love Will Tear Us Apart" was also on the Donnie Darko soundtrack though

Unknown Pleasures is one of my favorite albums ever. Totally awesome.

How do you put Weezer and Joy Division in the same category? Either way, people should only vote if they know both bands. I do. And I really don't like Weezer all that much.

Slight problem with that bit of trivia, Elmo. Ian Curtis is, uhm, kinda dead right now. Joy Division disbanded after he hung himself (couldn't deal with his epilepsy, and I think his marriage may have been on the rocks). Then they reformed as the BEYOND ass-whippin' New Order.

The guy who did the cover of "Mad World" is Gary Jules. Leg, I kinda like the cover better. The original's WAY too synth-poppy for the lyrics.

My apologies....

I think Gary Jules' version is FAR superior to the original. It's more haunting and fite the lyrics better

That's what I think, that it's stupid some people don't know who Joy Division are. However, Weezer just beat them out.

That...didn't make much sense, but there ya go
