Just as a note: The toolbar doesn't actually operate on Firefox ... It displays, but doesn't work.

This would be good critisism if it wasn't for the fact that it DOES work.

It seems to require a pretty recent version of Firefox though - it works on my main computer which runs a recent nightly but not on this, my laptop, with 0.9.0.

Hmm, the color bar and the emoticons are all that work for me.

Not like I use the toolbar for bold, italic and strikethrough anyway.

EDIT: Heyyyy, this blue doesn't look half bad with my post layout.

Hm.

For all of you that have problems with your setup, do this:
  • Empty your cache - Tools->Options, Privacy, Clear button besides Cache
  • Go to a reply or new thread page and hit Ctrl/Cmd+F5
  • Try the buttons. If they still don't work, open http://projects.fiftypounds.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0074 in one tab and [url]about/url] in another (dragging these links to the tab bar should do it).
  • Go to the "About:" tab. Select the two lines between the logo at the top and the grey line. Copy. Switch to the "FiftyPounds" page. Log in (register if you haven't) and add a new bugnote. Paste the information. Add some short info about which OS you run (RAM, processor speed, other apps and shoe size is not important ). Submit.

    Alternatively you can post that info in a new post in this thread or in a PM to me. I want reports from those of you that it works for as well.

I have been little lazy updating Firefox, this computer have 0.9.0... oh well I update right away and test again.

I'm using the web content filter Proxomitron (bypassing doesn't help too); nice to have it implemented for non-IE users too
But as for me, I'm using them rarely in message boards since I tend to type out the codes

Lots of new small stuff - the biggest changes are PM box on other pages and ofcourse the fork in Edit Profile. Edit Layout now is a separate file and offers preview. Opinions?

Been reading the stuff here. Looks like the Edit Layout feature is -very- similar to the one you had when wootboard.net was around. One thing that bugs me a tad with the test features on the side of the layout though...it kinda crumples the layout test unless you do a stretch test with an image (for layouts like mine that stretch to fit the screen).

I'm going to submit an issue now to where the post preview, should actually look just like a post as if it was viewed in a thread, with your avatar / exp / everything over there.....

that would also be a more accurate view of the layout.

Especially because there's a link from Edit Profile pointing to Edit Layout. It could look better, but when I added that in we were 10 minutes from uploading.

Confirmed changes in Edit Layout happening in the next build:
  • Post preview will look like an ordinary thread row, and the options to the left will be on a row on top instead.
  • Longer stretch test text. (Say that five times fast.)
  • Simple checkbox to turn autopreviewing on and off, and making the Preview button visible and functioning like manual autopreview.


By the way, I want to take the opportunity to explain what we're doing with the new stuff. A red thread goes through everything I do atleast to look if we're doing any unnecessary form sending. When creating a new poll, you'll have to re-send the form to add poll options. It's comparatively easy to add javascript code to make that part 'dynamic' - working with code from the page instead of needing to fetch new data every time we want a new poll option. Here's a proof-of-concept of dynamic poll option adding. It will not look like that on the board, but it will very much function like that.

Similarly, on the new Edit Layout page, if your browser can handle it, we have a piece of Javascript in place to fetch JUST the new preview data instead of constantly needing to press Preview and fetch around thrice or even four times the data.
