I didn't add YI: SMW2 here for obvious reasons, that game has an incredible level design and variety of tiles and foregrounds and backgrounds, so I just added those 4 games.

My vote goes for smb3, it has the best usage of graphics and the level design is not so bland as SMW's. Also, smb doesn't have a good variety of level kinds, and smb2 fail a lot on organizing its tiles.

PS: this poll is applyable only four the SNES versions of those games, no NES or GBA versions

Ohhh, a toughy.
Ill have to say SMB3, though. The level design just all fitted well.

SMB3. SMW is very rich palette-wise, which adds to the levels appearance, however the actual design is quite pedestrian.

Was this poll for level design coding-wise or gameplay-wise. I voted gameplay-wise, cuz that's what i thought. So i picked SMB3. the only game I am familiar with in coding terms is SMB1, and that is still a mystery to me.

Easily SMB3. It was really the only Mario game in the series that didn't just focus on running left and right through the levels. You would have to at times fly everywhere, go downward through the levels, up through pipes, swim, jump, fight, everything. SMW had narrower levels, more running, more fighting, less thinking, less swimming. It was prettier than SMB3, but it lacked the innovation that SMB3 had. SMB3 really is the best Mario game period, for everything. Even wth the NES's sound chip, it still produced catchy music too....

Another interesting side note is that in some of SMB3's levels, I actually found myself having to pause and think about what I should do next...

SMB3. It may not have the better graphics, but it's game play and level design were the best out of this 4.

I gotta go with SMB3, smw was much easier and less challenging than SMB3.
SMB1 was somewhat hard because of controls and gravity
SMB2 was easy

soo, it is SMB3 all the way

I voted SMB3. The levels are very better. SMB3 is very hard comparing with SMW. The enemies, graphics, musics, all is very better.

If I could, I WOULD vote SMB.

Why? Because they did SO much for only having a horizontally scroling screen. (And they were the first to have that!)

Wait, I think they were...

Anyways, imagine them trying to jam those SMB3 levels onto a level only 1 horizontal screen big.. O.o

I've choosed SMW3. I think this was the first game with diagonal tilesets. Also I'm like just from SMW's tilesets types. It is the better game in tylesets type from the four.

SMB3 was a given. Name me another game in which you bounce around in a giant shoe? Ya can't! IT's awesome; plain and simple. My only complaint is that the levels were too short.

Do you are talking about SMW or SMB3?
