I'm worried about Kirbynite, who lives in the Orlando area....

from my journal: We all think that the Ft. Lauderdale area has this some type of shield around it. When Andrew came, we got lucky, when any other tropical storm or hurricane came after that, we were lucky. They said that Charley was the biggest and strongest hurricane since Andrew in 1992. And somehow, all we got was that one nasty gust of wind and rain on early Friday morning, at around 3am. I kept watching the radar while at home and then at work, and when a cell came close to us, it would either break up, or move more north. Now this reminds me that I need to call dad, they were very close to the eye, in the Ft. Myers area. Dad is sleeping but I talked to Grandma, who said that their house is alright. Another member of the family, said that this huge tree just missed thier house, but knocked down a power line, a long one that ran down the whole street. Grandma told me that they've been out of power and water since yesterday, and that's not safe in the summer when it gets up to over 90 degrees. She also mentioned that two hospitals had to evactuate and there is a lot of damage due to the wind.

...and your still ok?

You know, I was so worried when I saw it on TV. I had no computer access so I couldn't check if you people was ok.

Let's hope Kirbynite is ok.

Yeah, things are OK on Anya's end if anyone was wondering.

I'm sure Kirb's OK but there could be a power outage. That definitely wouldn't surprise me.

I remember before the storm hit, I had asked him if he was okay, b/c there were several tornado warnings over in his area...he was very surprised that I had mentioned that.

But if Disney and all the theme parks opened the next day...it can't be that bad....

PS Talked to Kirb on AIM today...he's alright, but his cable connection is down, and is on dail-up.

Indeed I was surprised.. Since I wasn't paying much attention to the news. This whole thing really caught me off guard.

My house was very stubburn to having its electricity being shut off. Though.. I didn't miss the electricity too much, since I still had water, and I went to sleep after the eye went away.

I had my electricity back about 5PM the day after. However, I still don't have my high speed internet back yet.. The network's still down... Dialup seems just fine though Edit : Actually, I use Bellsouth DSL, not cable. Not that blessed

Man, that was one heck of a storm... branches littered everywhere.. transformers all blown.. There was this one huge tree that got bent so far down that it blocked the entire street. That's something I don't want to live through...

especially since you get more stress from the aftermath... Work at a super market is hell.. And even more so when you get shipped over to the gas station and have about 20 drive offs in one day

Danielle is the only storm that's out there right now, and it's going up north, so it's doubtful that'll hit the US.

Us inlanders don't have to worry about these Hurricanes. Though it would be worth the risk to live near the sea...

We just really only have to worry about tornadoes, which are a bitch during the summer seasons because of all of the hot air movment.

I'd think you'd get a lot of business BEFORE the hurricane hit, Kirb. You know, people stocking up and buying 3 times as much food as they need.

My grandmother called me on Tuesday (while in live for the concert ) and told me that they finally got power! About a week later...I was really worried about her, since it gets so hot.

I'm gald we don't get any terrible weather like that here in Cali. All we get where I live are some rain storms and winds, plus sun! XD We get tropical storms too sometimes, down from Mexico.

I wouldn't want to be in a tornado or hurricane
