| Hey everyone. This is my first time posting here, though I have been here while both as a guest and a member. I wanted to share some BG rips I took out of Mario X World SER by Anikiti. I don't know if this place frowns on this act but the BGs looked real good and I thought people would be interested in having them as well. Credit for the rips are given of course. I hope you guys like them. http://www.geocities.com/epsiloneris I believe if BGs were setup similarly the way I have mine setup, it makes them easier to add to a hack, rather than the tedious process of separate-tile pasting. Enjoy these BGs. | I thought of that but if those BGs are copywritten/owned by anyone but himself, it would be pointless to ask his permission to use rips from other games he had no permission from Nintendo or anyone else to use. I understand what you mean but I thought it would be all the same to just credit the original hack's ripper instead so at least people would see that I gae at least that much. Whoa, calm down!  I don't want this to get closed...I think peter_ac just seems to have the opinion that people need permission to use one's rips. I'm perfectly fine with that. However, I also agree with DarkSlaya. The GFX are copyrighted, therefore if one person rips them that they should be free domain. I, however, feel that if someone asks you to remove their *ORIGINAL*(Not ripped from another game) GFX from a hack, you should do so. JJ? What do you mean? Do I need to darken the brown I use, or dim it a bit? I'm also at a loss to whether I have all of the upper leaf canopy or not. =\ Catch me on AIM sometime, and we can discuss it. |

| Sorry about not being clear. Try to mellow the brown down a bit. You should know by now that I'm a big fan of soft, non-intrusive palettes. They just flow more naturally that way. Are you on AIM right now? I don't see you, which could mean you got removed from my list again. How that keeps happening I'll never know.  . |

Tell me this: Who the hell is Anikiti that I have to ask him to use things that "HE ALSO STOLE"? Who the hell gave you any right to modify these games like YOU have peter? Hmmm? Did you get Nintendo's permission to use the Lunar progs to rip their sprites and BGs and whatnot? Did you consult with Nintendo to use their SMAS Bgs and sprites for your SMB hacks? Do you have Nintendo's permission to use an image of their game for your personal use and "hack" into it like you and the rest of us are doing? Who the hell do you think you are to be cursing me when you do no better? You act as if the SMAS ripping you have been doing is somehow sanctioned by those who OWN those properties. Anikiti, just like you and me and anyone else, hacked copywritten property and used copywritten property without permission of the owners. I don't Nintendo Co. coming in here and threatening you with a lawsuit if you don't stop ripping their sprites and tiles from their game! So who the hell are you to be cursing me and putting me down for ripping the ROM of a fellow hacker when you, Anikiti, me and anyone else involved with SMW hacking have no authority, right, privelege, consent or permission to be doing what you curse me for doing - ripping and stealing! | This is the last time I'm going throught that argument... There's no difference from taking graphics from someone or a compagny (and don't even make me go into the "Are ROM Legal?" things). The fact that you're taking graphics from someone in both cases is what makes it the same thing, 'cept from the fact that in a case, you take them from someone who didn't make any money for them, while in the other case, you take them from stuff that gave money to their creator. Like I said, it's the last time I'm repeating this. And next time, back up your arguments:
