I think iron is a source of red blood cells, maybe, and those are probably good, I'm not sure. I don't think it would have to do anything with skin so no, vegetarians aren't whiter. I actually had low iron because I drink sooo much iced tea, which sucks it out of you some how. So I got pumped full of steak and pork chops for about a year. Not that bad, IMO, low iron was a good thing for me.

Actually, I've heard a few accounts of vegitarians having paler skin than omnis... Never witnessed it first hand, though.

My skin burns easily (in as little as 15 minutes in bright sunlight), but that came from my DNA (as far back as we can tell, all of my ancestors are from somewhere in northern Europe) and not from my diet. I'd much rather be pale than tan, and I've been wearing sunblock religiously for years (premature aging from cumulative UV exposure is teh sux), so it generally doesn't cause me any trouble.

*Is a semi vegitarian*

I saw semi vegitarian because I eat all seafood with the exception of Lobster and crab.. However, anything on land isn't going to be eaten by me.

It really isn't hard, and I could give up the fish if I had to. People always make it sound like it's impossible, but it really isn't. soy is such an amazing subtitute, it tastes awesome.

Hmm..I can eat salads. I kinda like that that salad with the chicken in it at McDonalds I had it awhile ago before school ended. It had cheese and that crispy chicken in it..it was muy nummy but that isn't very vegitarian . I might try it out when I'm older..but not now. I'm stickin' with the meats and less veggies and more fruit.

When you're a vegitarian, I don't think it pales your skin . I've never heard anything about that. I was forced to stuff my head with knowledge of nutrition..damn that Health Tech Academy.

Everyone does know that being a vegatarian isn't a great idea. (If you are doing it morally)

Animals are still killed to harvest crops and everything. Our slaughter houses also use like an instant kill type thing. Plus animals kill each other, but they suffer because they are ripped apart or something. If someone comes up to me and says eating meat is bad I am doing as maddox suggested.

it's pretty comon to have a more yellow-ish, whitish skintone, and for some reason, it becomes more clear (you see the veins better, dunno the effects of vegitarianism and acne, for example)

...that explains why the vegan in my class is so white. (she is that militant extreme type, and she even calls herself a one )

Rydain: Your ancestors probably came around north of scandivanien as it's quite dark most of the time here.

Funny enough, I don't get easily sunburned, yet my ancestors comes both from Sweden, Norway and Finland. Must be a gene from south somewhere.

...I should try some vegetarion food, for the heck of it.

Neither my wife nor my sister are vegetarians -- but they both get sunburned VERY easily.
I, on the other hand, get sunburned only if I sit in the sun all day long... and even then it never lasts more than 2 days.

Neko: I've tried veggie burgers, and absolutely HATED them....
I don't know if you'll like them or not, but don't be surprised when they taste different than normal burgers.

duhh XD
I like soy-vegetable mixtures in those.
and being vegetarian doesn't neccessairly mean you'll burn easier, you apparantly are a bit paler by default.

I tried them vegi-burgers before back when the mad cow thing was going on. I was scared of beef so at one of the BBQ's we have at school I bought a vegi-cheese burger. It was okay but after that I started going back to regular because I couldn't wait any longer..I just didn't care. We had turkery burgers for awhile but it's still meat so

I'm told that Veggie Burgers in general are rather terrible. Looking at one only confirms these suspicions. Though, to be fair, I've never actually eaten one (Nor do I want to).

To make my one and only vegi-burger I have had for all my life, I just added a buncha mustard and ketchup to make it taste a little better . Without none of that it was just..crap. You have to get used to the taste. Plus it had cheese which also helped since cheese helps with everything .

I just had a soyburger today, yummay! Love the damned things. I gave up vegetarianism back in March, but still ate them more often than hamburgers. (I've taken up Veganism since.)

All humans are omnivours...(sp)

Eating meat produces red blood cells. Which in turn creates healther muscles and muscle mass. But eating to much meat, like steak once a day, will eventually cause high blood pressure because of the excess red blood cells. Thats why you should even out your diet with vegtables which will help strengthen hair, finger nails, eyesight, and other things I can't think of right now. Eating meat strethens muscles and bones. Being a vegetairian (no offense to vegs.) but you will most likely be weaker than a meat eater since you have less "muscle food" in your system.

I personally enjoy both meat and vegs. I have salads a lot, and I don't eat to much meat whole meat, like stake, I do enjoy stake. But I also like ham and turky sandwhich with lettuce. I try to balance my diet and work out daily and I'm very healthy. I like meat, and I like vegs. I think that there should be a balance.

As for the moral reason the Maddox page made me laugh also, but my family raises cow and then we take them to the slaughter house. We have a large feild and we let them graze and we feed them cow pellets in the evening. Right now our meat cow is out in our feild living a happy life. When he is taken to the slaughter house I pretty sure they shoot them in the head or something so they don't suffer. Its usually the third world countries that have a tendincy to have a lack or sufficiant slaughter tools. Which creates a painful death for the animal.

I actually thought for a long time that, especially in the Peta videos, all that awful stuff happens in third world countries where we can't really do much about it. But it does actually happen in N. America. One of the chicken farms for KFC was recently exposed for doing the most dispicable things I'd ever heard of, and it was right in America's heartland.

Like how that one lady got a whoe chicken head nugget at McDonalds?
And usually, the animals eaten in third world countries are horse in the worst case scenario. Which is also the reason that some penicillin doesn't work n people over there. The fact is, for a well-balanced diet, you need you protein. And for every animal that you don't eat, I'm going to eat three...

Vegetarian is almost ok, especially if they can't eat meat for various reasons. Veganism is stupid though, utterly stupid. There's just no reason at all to refuse to eat/drink all that stuff like they do.
On a whole different topic: Go watch Super Size Me, today. After that let's all boycott the fast food (except REAL Pizza, because Pizza isn't fast food, you wait for like 10 minutes, Pizza Hut is probably fast though, so boycott them).
