ahem... TADA! My new layout! I just hope Tripod doesn't get stupid again and you can see it... if not... check it out here... http://members.tripod.com/jeffreymr/board/bg.txt (Rename to JPG) For those interested (I'm guessing very few) I used: + Nullsoft AVS 2.80 + Adobe Photoshop 7 + Microsoft Frontpage 2000 And now, just like all my other layouts, I have to check if the scrollbar works... You think I'd just right down the html somewhere instead of starting from scratch everytime, but NO! I have to be stupid! | | | | | | | | | | | | | | (This Should Be Far Enough ) | \/ This concludes the layout test. Put all pencils down and bring all test papers to the front... |

G'ahh...! I can't see.... Change the background. It makes reading the text *hard*. |

It's hard to read against the background. BTW, your scrollbar code doesn't work. |

Background doesn't go very well with the text, and I'd NOT recommend a scroll bar, they get quite annoying if you ask me... (edited by Xeogred on 03-18-04 12:22 AM) |

The background is too bright and colorful ... no text color will really work well on this, so use lower contrast in the background (like all dark or all light) ... It also takes up most of the screen in 800x600, but at least its size makes the scrollbar not annoying |

I see one and it works perfectly ... *looks in Mozilla* Ok, now that's messed up ... The scrolling box is still there, except I can't scroll at all and the scrollbar isn't visible ... |

Originally posted by RachorThat's because IE swallows pretty much everything. "height" in CSS is a SET height. IE interprets it as the CSS "min-height", and will stretch to allow anything, basically. That's wrong. On another note: Those colors are awful; no contrast whatsoever. Way too gaudy. |

Wow, that sucked. I hate to repeat but waaaaaay too colorful. It hurts my eyes. And as Jesper said, you fucked up the height so it goes over into other posts. |

My standards compliant browser does not like your non-standards compliant layout. Your post overflows into other people's posts..... |

Okay, I get the point... this layout was not the way to go... I'll get working on a new one soon... I'll: +choose a not-so-bright, lower contrast image... +make it smaller height-wise. I thought it was good while I was making it, but it ain't as good when it's in here... It's 606x500 now, I'm try 606x300 or 350. +AVOID THE DREADED SCROLLBAR! +do any other things you suggest. Any advice would be helpful at this point. EDIT: Maybe I'll try a metal block layout, similar to what my User Pic is. I'll add bolts and stuff to spice it up. (edited by JefF on 03-18-04 05:31 PM) |

I don't like the rainbow colored background...please try to make it something that contrasts better so you can see the blue text easily. | |||

Alrighty then, here's my 2nd new layout! This time, I did still use the scrollbar, but now I use a smaller font. Meaning the scrollbar will not be used as often. (I still need to test it.) Can someone test this layout in Mozilla/Netscape/Non-IE brower so I know it works properly? Thanks in advance. Originally posted by ChibiTarynIs this Valid code? I don't know, hence the reason I wanted it to be tested.... If it doesn't work this time, can someone suggest an alternative to a scrollbar? Preferable one that doesn't limit the layout? That's better and contrasts better, but you may want to save the rainbow background. I think it would look good somewhere other than a layout, maybe even a wallpaper... You should change the blue gradient bar now, I think it was designed for the rainbow, right? Make it something like silver with your nifty metal texture. It does work in Mozilla Firefox. Surverus: Thanks for the praise! Geno: Thanks for the praise as well! I might change the blue bar to a silver or gold bar. And I think the rainbow background might be used in my next wallpaper collection... |
