Custom objects:
Get block tool. It comes with 350 custom blocks. If those aren't enough, learn assambley.
Custom sprites:
Next to nothing has been figured out when it comes to sprites, so it's impossible right now.

Edit: Please Don't Begin Every Word With A Capital. It's Annoying.

As for sprites, you aren't perfectly right... AFAIK BMF-Neko has made some attempts to change it (and most probably was successful), the structure of the OAM is widely known and I am also at this (for my RPG code, which features some kind of RPG-ish spells) now.`

I am very far from understanding how sprites work. I figured out how to spawn them via a custom routine earlier this year (before the board crash), and found Chuck's HP routine, but that's about it. We're nowhere near being able to create our own from scratch yet.

Well, I figured out how to create new ones, but they are some kind of volatile, that means, the dynamic routine that BMF hooked his HDMA routine at once (it was at $7F8000, I think) destroys them immediately, making them visible for one frame only. Crap, but you can recreate them each frame. If it wasn't that CPU hungry
