Instead of an admin panel, anyone know how to add forums and forum categories manually?

It turns out Lycos UK comes with phpmyadmin, and it's easy to use, so I set up ranks, forums, categories, etc. Now I have a new problem. My board doesn't think I'm logged in. But I show up on the online users bar, and the other bar says "You are logged as ." When I click on log out, It's the same thing, but my name isn't on the online users bar.

I had that kind of problem with Lycos, never found out what it was.

Okay, I fixed it by registering a new account, then the login and logout worked, so I deleted the account.

Setting up an AcmlmBoard on Lycos sucks; the preset PMA doesn't seem to allow to dump the data, at least in the German version, since you don't get to that "welcome" screen but will be set directly into tha tables overview. A board without a back-up option - WTF ?
Either install PMA manually (it should work, didn't try it yet), remember to set the correct authentification type and data inside the config.inc.php and start it, or change your host.
And phpMyAdmin _really_ is very easy.
I have no clue about PHP and MySQL, but adding forums, setting up rank pictures, assigning moderators to forums and everything is very easy, so that little tool simply is amazing. Mostly you can work without that knowledge, but you should know WHAT you do some day. Learning PHP (My)SQL might help a lot, like if PMA doesn't work once in a while and something needs to be changed

PHPmyadmin is the best way to set up the acmlm system, if you do not know anything about PHP etc, And as for hosting I find the best way is to host it yourself on your desktop computer and leave it on all the time XD, well... thats what I do at least. but I would find a better free host or get a pay host if you plan on having tons of members, OR a really fast internet connection.
