I'm 18 years old and I've already started to notice hair loss. This baffles me. I have recieved all the bad genes. Why must this happen to me at such a young age? I don't even know what to do. Everything was so perfect before this summer. I am going out with the girl of my dreams, I have a job, a home, a car, and everything is just perfect and now this. I wouldn't care if this happened when it is SUPPOSED to happen [at age 30 or so] but why so damn young? Sorry, I'm just really scared now......

Well, there are hair loss prevention techniques available nowadays. You might want to check those out, go see a doctor or something.

I've noticed a few grey hairs growing in, and I'm only 19, but nothing too noticeable yet.

Even if you lose it there are like 50 ways to regrow it, but you know this could be because you drink so much pop or something. My hair will never fall out it is like super thick.

My friend's sister just started to lose her hair. That's totally rough on her.

Besides, I can't wait until I start balding, having thick hair like mine is the womps for me. It requires too much care and makes smoking very difficult.

Yes, but at the same token we don't exactly know how old Vin Diesel is.

I shed my hair constantly, I have a lot of it too, and it's hard to manage. I just recently grew it out a bit, turns out it's curly, which I didn't know because my mom always made me cut it super short. I think it looks better long, actually.

If you lose your hair, you could just do what my uncle did, and try a comb over. Or there's always hair regrowth products or false hair. Or even implants, I've heard of people getting hair put into their heads artificially. Don't know if that last one is well founded though.

You don't need to worry about who Vin Diesel is. He's a nobody.

Anyway, what NSNick said. There's a lot of hair replacement techniques out there these days. And I'm not talking about wigs either. And they just keep getting better as time goes by and technology advances.

And it's not the end of the world, I know some young guys who are losing their hair and they don't look weird or anything. I find that when you're looking at yourself, you're a lot more critical in your judements as opposed to if you're looking at someone else.

Say for instance you see someone with mild acne. You probably wont think twice about it. But if you get one zit, you feel like the whole world is staring at you.

And a lot of chicks dig bald guys.

This reminds me of an episode of Seinfeld that was on today. 10 to 14 months. Anyone see that one?

I know a few people who were getting thinner hair through out high school.

An old neighbor of mine use to have very thich hair but during the high school years it started to thin and now his hair doesn't grow out much. He still has hair though, and hes in his lower 30. You probably wont lose your hair so don't stress it too much.

Great seinfeld episode , Anyways thats one problem with people we always compare ourselves to others. Others mainly being pop stars, actors, and anyone who gets loads of publicity. You've gotta remember they have people working round the hour to make them look good.

My dad began losing his hair around 20 but he had very little lose until now in his 40's and its still not that bad for him. Theres always a million hair styles that require smaller amounts of hair if you choose not to look into replacement technologies/

My dad started going bald at 15... Was completely bald by 18... I started losing alot of hair last year. Getting scary... Can't notice it unless you move my hair out the way. I got long hair... I don't wanna cut it because ppl would probably see it then.

I'm thinking about getting hair implants... But it's supposed to cost something like $12000.

When my great aunt dies, I'll be getting about $10000, that's what I think I'll do with it.
I've never looked good with short hair. Always had low self esteem. I havn't even been in a relationship longer than a week!

Thought about killing myself a couple of times... A police car stopped me once.

You know, I don't mean to be rude, but I think you could do better things with $10000 than to use it on hair implants, which should be used as a last resort type of thing.

Why don't you try changing your diet? Even though I understand your problem is genetic, there are some things in certain foods that 1. help new hair grow, 2. keep the hair that's there in for longer periods of time. It could also be what you do with your hair. Do you dye it regularly? If so, you could be damaging it so badly and that's why it's falling out. You could be washing it too much. These could be speeding up the process, and instead of it being all genetics like you think, it could be only partially genetics. Just google up the topic minimizing hair loss, or hair loss treatment and look into those that aren't costly and/or surgical procedures.

Why don't you try looking into these possibilities first before you go and spend a hefty amount on such a procedure?

Also, hair loss isn't the end of the world. It happens to everyone at one point or another, either because of genetics, old age, or eating disorders. So don't be so depressed about it.

Leg: So what you're saying is I should get the oil?

I remember one guy I went to school with... he was almost totally bald. He seemed to take it fairly well, though. And that's what you've gotta do. If it's going, then take it down and wear it with confidence. Besides, sometimes length makes your hair look thinner.

I've been getting ribbed by one of my friends about mine... it's a little thin in the back. But then again, I've always been like that. It's getting worse, but you know what, I don't care. Just so long as I don't turn into Fred Durst. XD

I don't really know anyone who started to lose their hair that early but it's most likely genetic or something. Just look up things that could help prevent even more from falling out. The hair implants eh, I don't know if I'd try those. If you are really desperate than use those but just find other ways to help lessen it.

Regarding hair implants, they're not permanent, it doesn't cost that much, even though it IS plastic surgery, but the implanted hair also falls off after a while...

I myself have super thick italian mafia hair and it pisses me off, I've been able to jam electric razors with it and it hurts like hell... I don't know if I can really give any moral support, cause I can't even grow my hair past 1 inch without having a helmet-like afro...
