I have always wondered why people do some of the incredibly stupid stuff they do. I mean we have all these alcoholics and drugies and all this bad stuff. These people are aware of what they are doing is wrong yet they continue to do it. This plagues my thoughts of how people can just sit back and do nothing about their problems. It is beyond my comprehension to see how people can just do this.

Does any one else wonder about this or am I just crazier than I thought.

They do it to make themselves feel better. So people will do anything to make themselves feel better. So my question is if you are smart then why didn't you think of that?

They know it hurts them though and it tears at them inside so why do they keep doing it. It doesn't make any sense to me is what I am saying. There has to be something there that drives them or something.

Hey when did I say I was smart. In compareson I am very ignorant to some of the people on these boards.

They try to fill the emptiness of there soul. Plus they will go past pain just to feel better. So there is your drive right there.

And by the way, they don't quit because they're addicted. Some people just do not have the willpower to overcome such an addiction. And withdrawal from alcohol addiction can be fatal.

Exactly, they don't quit because they're addict. It is bad for them but I'm sure they realize it but it's hard for them to quit their addiction. Sometimes it does suck them in to make them think it's making them feel better and stuff. When in actuality it could be making things worse..I saw the works of them and it isn't nice..specially when there's arguments and stuff.

That is just sad though, I know addiction can suck, but still if they have family members friends or even anything it should be simple. Your wants can't overcome their needs can it? I guess I just refuse to accept stuff like this.

You spelled "their" wrong...

I don't think your're crazy at all, I simply think some people don't relize how addicted they are to drugs/alcohol or chemical dependence unitl they decide to quit. Trust me, I have a close friend who used to be in such a jam, but through God and friends got out of it safely.

Addictions are bad... for the person with it and everyone around them.

If a guy cant go without his smokes, then it affects his social life and his health. Plus it eventually leads them into withdrawl if they try and quit because the drug eventually "takes over" their body.

Its a sad sight for me actually.

It first starts out as an addiction. Then it will slowly progress until they can't live with out it. Then when they try to quit they can't because there life has become dependent to what ever that they were doing.
Now I will explain it to you. The soul consists of a couple of things. I needs human companions, then there is a gap left. That gap is supposed to be filled with religion, I don't really care what religion, since most people can't fill it with religion they turn to drugs and sex. That is how many people commit suicide. They can't fill the void so they end there lives.

rofl you talk like if you created the world.
WHat the fuck do you know? Nothing.
Each person has their own reason. It's not like "IT MUST BE FILLED WITH RELIGION OMGOGMOGMGOMGOGMOGM".
I don't have a religion, but i don't do drugs and neither i have sex like a dog. So what? I broke the cycle?

Haha...

Not everyone is completely addicted like that. Some people just like or whatever else, like Yoghurt Duck said, there are different reasons. When I do drugs it's because I like it, not because I'm addicted or anything. I could probably stop doing it whenever I feel like it (not that I do it too often to begin with). Eh.

... I would slap you roughly, but that isn't possible. Drugs, booze, sex, crime, hate, books, sleeping, eating, hiding, etc. all have adictable attributes. The two you describe though are Substance Addictions, which serve to make people crave it more. If you do it a lot, you begin not to care because sometimes it's the only way, and it's hard to stop.

Hey you notice I put and all the bad stuff on it. I just sad those 2 first because those are some of the more main stream ones, and those are ussualy more harmful. (Not always but ussualy) Still I don't see why people continue to do them. I mean if you want to stop then you do stop that is it isn't it? If you really really know what it is doing then you should be able to overcome it.

Dameon: Yes religion is important, but it can solve everything. You can't sit back and expect God or Budah or who ever to do it for you. You have to do be able to hlep yourself.

Subliminal: Yeah I did, but I fixed it.

Get addicted to something, then try to stop. Let's see how easy it is for you.

Getting addicted to a drug, alcohol or anything else is hard to stop. The person could say that they want to stop but don't. It takes a lot of hard work just to stop it but first you have to realize what you're doing to yourself and the people around you to quit your addiction. Some people don't even want to realize that.

lol, I wanted to try to do that. I'm having second thoughts though.

I'm guessing the addiction cause you to think that it is a NECESSITY and forget the BAD THINGS. Is this getting clear?

You're addicted...

The best thing is to leave the shit alone. It would solve so much... but people = shit
So we're kinda stuck. You can't just do a drug and not be addicted, the chemical dependence is there the first time you do it. You may not crave it like some that has (lets use smoking as and example) smoked for 7 years if you have only smoked 1 cigarette. But you think about it, the chemical is in you. Religion can help a lot, faith, love, shit like that. You'd be surprised...
