Woohoo, I finally have a car! Yes, ladies and gents, Grey is now mobile!

It's a 1993 Mercury Topaz, brilliant condition, and get this, only 37000 miles on it! It's an 11 year old car with that mileage! I was amazed. My parents got it really cheap, too, and so far there's been no problem with it at all, I think I really lucked out. I have to pay insurance, but that's paltry when it comes down to the fact that I don't have to bum rides anymore! We sorta got me a car out of necessity, I have a crapload of after school activities, plus I work, so I couldn't keep asking my parents and sister to give me rides everywhere, since their lives are as busy as mine.

I'm so happy! It's a nice little car, good to learn on, and it's so clean, too. I'm really really grateful, and words just can't describe the elation I felt when I got it. Plus, as a side bonus, I can finally get a new job instead of working at the restaurant I'm working at now. Or, better yet, I could get a second job and keep that job I have now! Man, this opens up so many opportunities for me.

Shit, am I spoiled?

Nah, I'm spoiled. I love my car. I was also suprised how few miles were on my car compared to how old it was when I got mine, too (under 45,000 miles on a 1985)

Anyway, congrats, and enjoy your newfound freedom. You'll learn to hate high gas prices with the rest of us.

Yeah, the best example of the car I can see would be at http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/499349. It's a nice car, and I already know about gas prices, I may have a car now, but before that I had to pay for gas whenever I needed a ride anywhere, so I'm pretty sure I'll be prepared for it.

Yeah I WISH I had that car. Nope, just a standard Topaz, but that's how it looks on the outside. My mom says no passengers and no driving at night for awhile, but it's a step.

It's more of a pink color too. Maroon, really.

Anyone can drive an automatic :/, the real challenge is being good with manual (it's not that hard, but it takes practice ). Besides, it's more fun to actually do other stuff than braking and accelerating and turning.
(And uhm, check out www.koenigsegg.com for my opinion on how a car should be )

My truck has a broken power stearing pump, and it leaks. How's that for fun to drive? I've been meaning to pick up a cheap car like that, my truck gets eight miles to the gallon. I guess that would be why it has two gas tanks.

Hey I tried a standard, my friend tried to teach me a few times, she was pretty brave to do so.

It just won't work for me, I can't do stick, no matter how much I try. The second I let go of the clutch the car stalls, because I hit the gas at the wrong time, or I don't hit the gas enough, etc. I almost damaged my friend's car because I pressed the gas at the wrong time and spun her fan belt. I'm glad I didn't, though. I really wanna learn to drive a standard, too.

Once you get a hang of the timing (just practice shifting into first, that's how I learned), it's really easy. You just gotta find that point to hit the gas. And you can't let the clutch out slowly, you have to do it moderately quickly.

I can do an automatic. When it comes to a manual..eh well yeah I never tried one so I don't know. I will learn but I think it's gonna be kinda difficult. I watched before because we have a Jeep Wrangler and it's a manual. I think they even have automatic for those . It'd take longer for me to learn a manual. It seems like everythings gotten easier since they've got anti-lock breaks, cruise control and all that big time jazz.
