But don't you put the scrolls into the tombs?

Or what about ear collecting? Whenver you kill another player in Dialbo or Diablo II a ear get's dropped. You can collect many ears from the same charachter.

Makes you wonder if ears grow out again in the Diablo game.

In Chrono trigger, why did Chrono have problems with the guards in the castle. But not Lucca?

I just realised that after seeing my sister replaying the game...

Because he's a GUY. Sheesh.

You COULD put the scrolls in the tombs but apparently you can only carry X number around - which weigh the same as a few suits of heavy armor.

I don't know about that, unless the guards were mentally retarded, they could have realised that Chrono was Lucca's friend, and that would result in defense with gun against guards.

I saw the funniest comic regarding some of that a while ago. Villian school or something. To put it simply, if the hero can only jump a pit 4 blocks wide and the villian's 50 times his size and could easily step over it, why not *gasp* make a pit 5 blocks wide? Or if he can only jump 3 blocks high, make a wall 4 blocks high? Even better, make one that covers the entire screen. And no, you don't need to leave powerups sitting after the hard parts!

There's also the matter of Bowser's random sizes. In SMB, he's twice Mario's size. In Mario 64, he's 10 times as big. In a lot of other games they're the same size?

But most significantly, in most RPGs: Why do people just wait for the enemy? "Alright, I just attacked him. He has 4 HP left. Now I'll just wait here and let him use an incredibly powerful attack that'll probably kill me, and then if I survive I'll finish killing him."

No, I meant Crono had problems because...

That's why they're called turn-based RPG's. You can't expect (in most games) to be able to attack as many times as you want unless you ARE faster than the opponent.

VN had a good explanation for turn-based battle logic: Everything happens at the same time, but the game can't very well show that.

Ok!

Talking about Bowser. Why is he so stupid he doesn't learn from his mistakes? Take Super Mario 64. Mario meets Bowser the first time.

Bowser: "HA, HA, you can't beat me"

Mario: Oh yes I can, I think I'll grab your tail and throw you out of here.

Mario meets Bowser second time.

Bowser: "This time you won't win that easy"

Mario: Oh yes I can, let's grab your tail and throw you out of here.

Mario meets Bowser third time.

Bowser: I'm so strong, but I forgot once again to get rid of my tail. So be fair and don't touch it, OK?

Mario: Hmm, guess that makes three...

The villain movie is at http://home.att.net/~miller.daniel.r/dictator2.htm.

And the worst contortion of Bowser's size was in Super Mario Sunshine. One moment, he's about 100 times Mario's size in a hot tub, then when you kick his arse, suddenly he's back down to being a little bit bigger than Mario is! And he talks instead of roaring! I liked his voice, though...

That's understandable for the castle in "today". (in that game, that's it)

But she comes too you after Lucca have disappared, just like that. And she hadn't shot on any guards. (otherwise they would have gotten into trouble for that)

Another odd thing is that the year 1999 looks like year 999 in terms of terrain, but the bleak future terrain is totally diffrent.

X is a variable. It can be 2005, 2015, 2025, 2035, 2045, 2055, etc. It's just a convenient way for the people to not specify a date so that if the technology doesn't come in that time, we'll say it's later on.

Pfft, lazy writers. When I'm writing a futuristic story, I base it in the distant year; if it's still too futuristic by then, there's a simple explanation: It's just a story! Hell, say it's the year 3182, nobody'll criticize you about it for a long time. (Plus what if things still aren't like that by 2095?)

*If you haven't beat Mario 64 (), minor spoilers ahead*
Another thing: When you meet bosses multiple times they always use stronger and stronger attacks. Why not do that the first time when you're too weak to survive them? Bowser in Mario 64 should have just used all the various attacks at once. Or for that matter, in the last fight, he breaks off platform chunks. Why not just smash it so much there's only room for him and you're forced to either stand there and die from his poison-to-the-touch skin or fall into the bottomless pit. That's another thing, in the first Bowser level, Bowser must have known where you'd start, given how the level's designed. Why put a platform there? Just let Mario fall to his doom.

Also: Proportional-damage attacks. Super Fang in Pok

They learned from Crystalis. Last time I checked, 1997 didn't feature a nuclear holocaust.
