What point do you consider a user to be an oldbie, or a newbie?

I've been at Acmlm's for two years now, and lurked for about six months before that. I've been here for the majority of the board's life, and that's where I consider myself to start to become an oldbie.

You might consider a low user number to signify seniority at a board, or a staff position...

What do you consider yourself to be, and why?

I've been here since about since mid-2002, though I never actually posted anywhere beyond the Newbie Forum until a few months afterwards.

I guess I'm somewhere inbetween...

I'm an oldbie; i was at the old board longer than you Kasumi Although I only posted once every two days so I felt very newbie-ish. Now I've posted two month's worth in a few days.

I don't even remember how long ago I joined the old board. It was a hell of a lot after a lot of people, but before a lot of other people. I'd estimate about a year and a half ago. My number was 1570, if that helps. And I did have a short-lived, ill-considered staff position, heh. Lines are hard to draw in any case. Say custom title achievement on the old board plus this board, I guess.

I still kinda consider myself a newbie. I've been around a while, but I don't post that much, so no one knows me here. No one has really wanted to talk to me.

I joined at the end of Feburary this year. So I'm still a f00b n00b. But between the two boards, I have about 800 posts, so by that token, I'm far ahead of some oldbies

It's harder to tell now because of the restart, but I wouldn't base it entirely on how long you've been here ...

Just be around often, get yourself known pretty well, and be fairly active (doesn't have to be frequent posting, but at least some), and you'll be pretty much an oldbie after a year or two ... pretty much everyone who's been here since 2001-2002 would be one, as 2003 is slightly outside of the "old days", but those from 2003 would be pretty much between for me

But then there'd be oldbies who are more oldbie than others, there isn't really an exact definition

I'm actually a relative oldbie who came back to complete pandemonium. I joined here about over a year ago I guess, I just haven't posted in a while.

*Looks at first new post* Aw hell. My first day back, and already I screw up.

Did I migrate the term 'oldbie' to here, or was it already there? I remember saying it a lot.

Anyway, an oldbie is someone who was around during the early days of the board. I was an oldbie at the acmlm.overclocked.org board, because even though I haven't been around to see the VERY beginning of it, I had a user ID of 274. It doesn't matter that I was registered for 3 years (or was it 4? ), because what matters is that I was around BEFORE Acmlm turned 18.

Everyone knows what a newbie is. An oldbie is the opposite of a newbie, but it's a little tougher to think of an exact definition for it, seeing as there's no actual absolute definition for newbie either.

Edit: Thanks to a cache backup of my profile, I was able to recover my old registration date. 06-03-01 02:06 PM.

'Been around for at least two years, but posted on and off. I know the boards around here well enough from lurking and AIM to know a couple people from here, as well as those who frequent here, but used to haunt the Citadel.

Toph, I actually had a funny conversation last night with someone from here after I brought you up.

I'd say after the member is fairly recognized by the other members, then they'd be somewhat of an oldbie. I guess post counts/activity level and days registered at a place are a part of it too, but I think it's mostly how well known you are and stuff like that. That's how I see it anyway.

I was registered at the old board for 630+ days I think, with only 703 posts. I don't think anyone really knew me, so I still think of myself as a newbie here

I think I'm oldbie-material, since this upcoming July 3rd, I will have been at Acmlm's for 3 years. With a user ID of 406 at the old board, I think I was here very early.

I joined in May of '03, so, yeah, I'm a newbie.

That, and the fact I dissapeared for a little while in between then and now.
