What puzzles me, is that in several European countries, you're considered a legal adult at 16 years of age, but you're not allowed to drive until you're 18.

Hey, 18 is the greatest age of them all. You're allowed to start drinking and driving (preferably not at the same time). Of course, not in the US, but in my country, that is.
