Jerk, you forgot Opera. Netscape is hardly even used anymore that i know of... Opera's one of the more major ones (er, yeah). And in case you haven't noticed... I use Opera. I hate IE now (too many fuck ups plus it installs spyware by itself without confirmation), Mozilla didn't last through a simple registry error (fucked up beyond belief, couldn't do anything other than resize a compeletely blank window) and Opera's the only one that actually works for mel Go Opera. :p |

Couple of problems: 1. Lack of options. 2. Two options are the same. Firefox is Mozilla without some crap... so I put Mozilla. Netscape 6/7 are only re-branded Mozilla distributions. Mozilla is based off of Netscape 5 source code (which never was released as Netscape 5. AOL already aquired Netscape, and Mozilla 1.0 was released when it was considered finished) Some more options that should've been here:

Well i'm sorry about the lack of options... I just wanted to get updated... I've always been using IE, you see... And i have experienced no problems with it. But since the editpoll.php doesn't exist i can't make new options. | |||

I use IE, I don't find any problems with it, and it was the default browser installed on my computer. *Gets pelted with empty beer bottles and rocks* |

I've only used IE except at school where they use Netscape. Not so good I like IE though because it does a good job and actually gets it done. |

Mozilla Firefox, I have messed it up one time myself actually and it got slow. It was a problem caused by my profile folder. Deleting it helped it. Blame that I installed it in the "wrong way". >.> I use it becuse it's just fast, that there is a pop-up blocker and stuff is non-essential for me. You can have that in IE. (I actually even have that in IE, not that I use IE so much...) (edited by Kitten Yiffer on 07-20-04 08:24 PM) |

Firefox pwns. It's fast, stable, and secure, and its standards and PNG support are excellent. I love its tabbed interface and the slew of extensions available for it. My personal favorites are RadialContext (pie context menus, which can be used like normal menus or as mouse gestures), Super Drag and Go, and Web Developer (which is quite useful to me at work). (By the way, regular mouse gestures are available for those who prefer them.) Dracoon - IE does need quite a lot of progress. Its rendering engine, which hasn't been updated since 2001, doesn't support CSS nearly as well as Gecko (the rendering engine of the Mozilla browser family). Look here for an example of a page with valid HTML and CSS1/2 that displays correctly in a Gecko-based browser (and has for quite a while) but not in IE 6. I haven't played with Opera in a while, but last I heard, its CSS support beat IE's, too. IE can't handle basic PNG transparency without a standards-breaking hack. It has some nasty bugs as well: - If you call a JavaScript function in a parent window that is supposed to populate a select box in a child window of that parent, the browser will die with a bizarre error message. (Firefox handles this task just fine and dandy.) I develop complex web applications for a living, and this bug made my life hell when I was trying to streamline the JS in a particularly involved website with a multiple-window interface. - Several major IE exploits have recently been brought to light. Guarding against these is not nearly as simple as being careful with your security settings and not installing random junk. The browser can be tricked into downloading and running arbitrary software without any input from you at all. Read this article for a synopsis and links to other articles about the specific exploits. The Mozilla browsers and Opera aren't perfect (nobody would claim that they are ), but at least they aren't so vulnerable to exploitation, and I've never known either to die like that on simple DHTML. |

Oops...I forgot to mention some of my other favorite Mozilla and Firefox features. - Site-specific image and cookie blocking. This makes it easy to hide annoying spastic banner ads and allow useful cookies (shopping cart contents, forum sessions, username/passwords, etc.) while blocking cookies that track you in ways that you don't appreciate. Firefox 0.9 gives you the option of allowing a cookie only for your browser session. - Fine-grained control over JavaScript. You can disable popups, status bar message changing, window moving and resizing, and scripts that hide your right-click context menu without turning off JS altogether. If you like to scroll the page by middle-clicking and then dragging your mouse (as you can in IE), Firefox has an option for that, too. |

At the moment, I'm using Avant Browser which is a shell for IE. Basically it's IE minus a ton of annoying popups and with less risk of getting nailed with spyware/malware. I use Firefox on occasion to browse certain sites that I can't access in IE for some reason. |

I should just make ONE post in a notepad file and cut and paste it every time this thread happens. I use IE. Just like Hiyruu said. It works and that's all I need. I don't need a plug-in to tell me how fast a dolphin can swim if it weighs less than 100 pouns or a plug-in that lets me play Tetris. Big, fucking, deal. That, and IE is faster. Regardless of what people tell you. Oh, and I don't know about some Firefox users, buy I for one like to have table support with my browser. (edited by Legion on 07-21-04 12:00 AM) |

I use Galeon 1.2.5 which is Mozilla based. This version is 2 years old and it has some bugs. I'll upgrade it when I to upgrade to Debian sarge, which will require several days of downloading. I remember a time, back when I used Windows 3.1, when IE was faster and had better features. Those days are gone, and IE is now the crap browser. As for how I voted, I chose the closest option, which is Mozilla. |

I use Mozilla (1.7.1). Why? Because: 1) I've been using Mozilla/Netscape since NS4.0. 2) I never liked Internet Explorer (for aesthetic reasons). 3) Opera's out of competition for me because it costs money, and I have little enough of that as is. I don't use Linux, so I don't know anything about browsers for that. |
