Funny no one answered my topics few weeks ago I guess I aint popular

Well anyways I'm hacking Final Fantasy VI and I want to change the tiles of the characters. I know I've been using Terrii Senshi's editor but it's not what I' looking for. Have anyone seen the hack called "FF Crystal *something like that*" that changed Edgar to Kain and such. My question is how did the creator find the right sprite? I want the black mage from FFV in FFVI. I can't find the right tiles in Tile Layer Pro, it's all gibberish and it's hard to find it. Anyone can help? thanks!

Don't let this discourage(sp?) you. When i came here first time nobody cared too.
Have you checked zophar.net? They have a big hacking utilities section, with many helpfull tools.
Have you messed a bit with the options menu? Set it as Snes 4bpp (or wai it snes 3bpp)?
You can also extract palettes from zsnes savestates - it may help you to visualize the desired sprites in that unholy spaghetti mess I don't think they're compressed or anything.
If you have an irc client, you can always reach us at irc.us.forgetit.net #rom-hacking
Good luck!

Ok!

I suggest you search for Tile Molestor (a tile editor) don't forget to load the correct palette from a ZSNES savestate file (read the instructions of Tile Molestor) and scroll a bit through the ROM. I think you'll find the chars easely this way.

Good luck and show us some screenshots when you've made some changes.

The only time a thread goes unanswered or replied to is when nobody knows the answer. I remember the problem with Yousie's FF6 overworld tile window not showing up, but I didn't know how to fix it, or get around it. (though I do remember that when I did get it to show up, it crashed anyway, such a buggy unfinished product...bleh....so very unprofessional) I didn't want to reply in your thread with "I know of that problem. Sorry, can't help you out."
I'm sure that's why nobody else replied to it as well.

Ok Impala!

Ok!

That's really true. Sometimes I just wished I was some sort of all-knowing ROM-hacking guru who would be able to answer all those questions. But the truth is, I for myself got even more questions I don't have the answer for.
