Chris already preorder this, and I'm not one to play online games, but this one really looks kick arse. Anyone here getting it and will be playing it online?

I signed up for beta about a month or so ago. I'm not a big fan of the first one. It just didn't click with me. :/ But this one is like, a whole new ballpark and looks great. I have to at least try it. All I need is a new processor though because the requirements are a bit high for me.

Oh, and Anya? You should really try an MMORPG. Ten bucks says we wont see you for months. They're insanely addicting.

EDIT:

-Operating System: Windows 98/2000/ME/XP
-Processor: 1GHz or greater

EDIT2: Haha, I noticed on Gamestop that the strategy guide for it comes out three months before the actual game. That's probably going to change.
-RAM: 512 MB

Oh wow, looks like I'm in good shape after all. I could have swore I saw over 1.8 awhile back. Cool.

I've loved the original since I started playing in January of 2000, but I would hesitate to abandon my character to move on to the sequel. Sony does assure us that certain "heirlooms" will be available to players moving to EQII from the original, though I will still wait at least a month or two before I sign up.

In a preview for PC gamer, one of the producers of EQ2 said that a computer did not exist that could run it at full everything.

Got to love that one...maybe NASA has one that can play it.

And that is the very reason I will probably not be in on this. My comp is mediocre as it is.

Chris just built his computer, so his is fine, but mine as it is now, would not be able to play this game. That's why he's going to build me one before the game comes out.

Leg: I did some beta testing with Earth and Beyond and I tried RO, and I just couldn't stick with either for that long.

Eh... I'd take that comment at face value. I'm sure a top of the line system could RUN it at full everything, but it might be a bit sluggish.

I'm sure a system exists that can run it at near-full all.

Anya, Earth and Beyond sucked ass.

"In a preview for PC gamer, one of the producers of EQ2 said that a computer did not exist that could run it at full everything."

Highly, highly doubt it.

You think I'm lying? I'll quote it word for word, as long as mother hasn't thrown it out.

Dammit, my mom took her car out, and that's where I think it is. I'll edit this later.

...Threw out a magazine?

Anyways, like I said, I'm sure a top of the line PC can run it at full everything, even if there's a bit of stuttering or a framerate drop.

If you can run Doom 3, you can run EQ2. Enough said.

Yes! *Druels all over self* This is the game I have been most anticipating... I love the EQ series, I have a lot of knowledge about it, but I have barely played any of the games... I hate on MMORPGs paying per month, but come EQ2, Imagonna purchase it. I was going to buy the original, but there would be too many l33t players, and the game is pretty outdated...

Yeah, that's one of the main downfalls of Everquest right now. It's soooo dated at this point.

But with EQ II, the EQ name getting a giant yank back into modern times/technology.

I fucking hope the UI is easy to adapt to. It damn well had better NOT be as fucked up as FF XI's. >(

Out of curiosity, where does you knowledge come from?

It's still the best MMORPG out there.

The original EverQuest started with a pretty cut-and-dry UI, but it evolved over the years to become about as customizable as you could imagine. Not only can one design or download one's own style and images for the chat windows, inventory screen, and everything else, but each and every window and box can be moved and stretched and shuffled and, finally, anchored in place. Not to mention the feature that allows one to create as many chat boxes as necessary, filtering them individually. That is, one box can be devoted to combat spam (hit and miss messages, damage, spellcasting, etc.), another to chat within one's group or guild, a third to general chat including OOC, Auction, and Shout channels, and numerous more.

FFXI does not hold a candle to the original EverQuest, especially not in regards to the UI, and I can't imagine why the wonderful setup from EQ will not be included in EQII.

There would be many l33t players because the game is old. Lots of people bought it of course, and in the long time it has been released, people have leveled up their characters. I am hesitant of purchasing it because I am afraid I will start playing with 0 level and very little equipment, while many other people will be extremely experienced. I have read many reviews about the game and its expansions, on IGN and Gamefaqs, etc. I have also read a lot about it on its main site, and read strategy guides. Thats where I have my knowledge of the game. And it is still very popular, not so much in retail, but by my standards, the gfx engine is obsolete and makes the game look fugly.

And copy and paste.

We're getting the special edition pack here, which ables you to get a free baby dragon!! I've seen the video on the baby dragon, and it looks great. I've heard that the dragons that you fight tallk, so I'm wondering if the dragon that you get to raise, I wonder if he/she will talk as well.

Well... If you like it, check out WoW.

I think the big problem for Sony is converting the EQ community to EQ2... there's still LOTS of support that needs to be given to the old community.
