That's great news. I'm glad to hear these three hacks are doing so well. I can't wait to play all three. You guys doing this stuff are awsome (Dude Man is my hero :-P) I just wish more people would finish their hacks even if they're not very good. But don't feel bad, the "fan games" scene is just as bad (if not worse).

Hey, I'm new here, I dropped in looking at the hacks, I can't wait for some of you to get done, I just wanted to say, If any of the creators of these hacks, would like webspace to store your demo's or full versions of your hacks, please, let me know, I's be more than happy to host your games, I just became Admin of Zeldamasters.com, and I'd be glad to create a page and add your game to it, with full credit going to the creator of each game, if you want, otherwise, I can just host your file and let you do what you will with the link, if anyone is interested, you can get ahold of me at ganon@zeldamasters.com
I'll be checking in on updats to these hacks,

That might not be a bad option for me with Dark Prophecy. I may get back to you on that.

On a side note, i have another hack that is unrelated to Dark Prophecy that is extremely close for release. It is currently being beta tested. I might contact you about hosting that if no hacking sites express interest.

Hey I was going to ask where the hell this went. They got rid of Legend of zelda series and put rpg discussion. Cool now I can look it up again.

hi I need help editing sprites for Zelda 3. I use Hyrule Magic.

I copy Link's sprites palette to MSPaint. but I run into several problems.

what I did was make 2 copies of the Zelda ROM, then I
went into Hyrule magic, COPY the sprites from a rom
hack I found, and pasted them onto Link's sprites.
the colors were altered a bit. but when I save as the
changes onto the same ROM. and load it with Snes9x,
the zelda logo is not visible (the sword is) and the
save game screen is completely blank but I can hear
the music.

I guess the copy a existing sprite palette messed up
all the colors in the whole game huh?

well I tried doing it manually. I copyed Link's
sprites palette onto MSPaint. it asked me if I would
like the bit map enlarged so I said yeah.

just to test, I changed the Link head on the top left
to a different hair color by using the waterdropper to
borerow a color from any of his sprites, and use paint
bucket to fill in his hair.

Then I copyed, then pasted it onto the Hyrule Magic
Link sprite palette and it says: " Image does not
have correct dimensions or is not a 16 color image.
???? I didnt even save it, I just copyed and pasted t
exactly how it was in hyrule magic. I tried saving it
as a 16 color image, but then everything turns all
black and white or whatever.

maybe it's the default pixels size of MSPaint? by
default it's 120 by 174 pixels.
and when I copy and paste the Link sprites from Hyrule
Magic onto MSPaint, it goes to 128 x 448 pixels

I dunno. I try Ifranview but that has no coloring
tools. I even copy and paste directly and I see no
color changes in that color palette so Im not sure
whats wrong. maybe save as in Hyrule Magic is not
enough to make the changes work. I heard you have to
turn it into a patch or a ips or something, right?
-------

aside from that, I wasnt able to play beneficii's ROM hack cause I dunno. I used that Lunar program to apply her ips file onto the Zelda3 rom. and it says it was successful. but when I run it all I get is no video and just music you hear when you first go outside the house.

I cant get paint shop pro cause of comptibility reasons.

BUT TAKE NOTE: The Samus ROM hack worked perfectly for me on SNES9x. and I used SNESTool to apply that hack onto the rom.

anyways what I was interesting in doing was playing Zelda 3 with a female character or female Link counterpart (well yeah Samus is female but that armor looks kind of unisex. =P whether using beneficii's rom hack or making my own sprite alterations (I think I would like to make my own sprite main character for Zelda3 eventually anyway)

hey Seph are you the creator of Hyrule Magic? I really need help in some form. All I wanna do is alter the sprites into characters I like and just playit that way. it really shouldnt be so much trouble.

or you know maybe I'm not saving it properly. but whether I have the copy/paste changes onto the same file or as a different file., I think Im missing a step. the help file that was included with Hyrule Magic didnt seem to mention ANYTHING about how to properly alter and change the Link sprites while making the rom still playable.

Umm... there was never a section called Legend of Zelda series. It was Final Fantasy series. The Zelda Hacking section disappeared years ago.

Hey!
I just played Zelda LttP: Omega and I think it's pretty cool(by the way, thx SePH for posting them all!). I also changed a detail that was pretty important(I think...):
LINK'S HAT HAS A YELLOW THINGY!!!
I changed it so it would be blue.
Hurray!

P.S.
How the heck do you put images?!?

what do you mean by that:

""LINK'S HAT HAS A YELLOW THINGY!!!
I changed it so it would be blue.
Hurray!""

images?

1- upload them first: http://imageshack.us/ (preferably jpg or png... NO BITMAPS!!!)

2- put the link between [*img] and [*/img] (remove the * and the spaces)

3 there you have it.. a pic in your post.

-------------------------------------------------------

edit: could a mod please burry this thread in the depths of the trash can? or at least close it? i'm tired of seeing 2 to 10 months bumps

i think it has served it's cause long enough and time to retire....

Before:

After:

As you can see (or might not see...), There was something yellow on Link's hat so I made it blue. That's all.

Ah i kinda see. Your first step in changing the palettes...changing the palettes is pretty cool. You can turn the desert into a snow location or death mountain into a lava pit by simply changing the Pal.

A good thing to do is hold of showing a lot of screenshots until youve made a significant difference to zelda. Youll find that you will change your work a lot and the second or third attempts at altering the rom are considerably better than your first. Im not saying your works shit but if i look back at what i did 3 years ago it was pretty pants!

As with everything zelda ill keep an eye on your work.

I agree, this thread should not be burried, or at least there should be a thread to replace it. I would be happy to provide new pics of DP (and Omega if requested) if you plan to remake the thread.

Yeah definately shouldnt be burried because i need help...Ive got majorly into the whole GFX and palette editing and i want to edit the transparent colour in the overworld but i cant find info on it anywhere and its something that ive never done before.

I recall someone once saying its not in the HM palettes but needs to be changed in hex and seeing as the people that will know keep a close eye on this thread i thought itd be the best place to ask without creating a new thread.
