I think I spelt it right anyways, what kind of superstitions did you grow up with that your parents either scared you with or made you think they were crazy?

My grandma used to tell me some wacked out, out of this world crazy things that scared the hell out of me. I can barely remember them . They were some that mentioned the devil and something about hairballs .

I don't really care about the one with the black cats, my cat is kind of a black cat..but not. He looks very much like a cupcake hostess type thing. I never broke a mirror. I don't really want to. I was reading some stuff about superstions earlier today but it was talking about this one if you left palm itches you're losing money and if your right palm itches there will be money coming your way.

I remember my mom saying that a bird hits the window it means someone is going to die, or I think my sister said it. My mom said it happend before and yeah, some people died. Nothing has happened yet since a bird ran straight into the window a few months ago.

I'll think of more later ..

Nah, Im not superstitous. I do however believe in very unfortunate coincidences .

Ive come past tons of black cats in my life, and nothing bad has really happened to me. Stepped on cracks, accidentally cracked a mirror once, stepped under a ladder... you name it. Thats what has led me to be a non believer.

I know someone ran over a black cat with a car once... I guess that would bring you uber bad luck.

I know a wierd superstition is throwing salt over your shoulder.
I don't believe in any superstition but I try to avoid the
cracks when I walk home from school anyway, especially on Friday the 13th

I go out every Friday the 13th, every single one. I break mirrors, walk on black cats, step on cracks while going under ladders.

It's all bullshit, nothing is going to happen to you because you've stepped on a crack. You're not going to get shot in the middle of a Pee-wee Herman marathon because you didn't spin around twice, didn't throw salt over your shoulder and then didn't take a shit on TRC's bedroom pillows.

Whenever I walk into a room, I try to knock on wood. I keep a set of teeth in my bedroom to ward off bad luck. I have a clove of garlic in my fridge at all time to keep rot from my food.

Yeah, I'm pretty superstitious.

Nope, I'm not supersistious.

Never believed in any of it. The only bad thing that happened on Firday the 13th was the fact my mom was born on it

Ah, I believe it's all in your head. I was never superstititous if you let things get to you then they will. Althoguh as a child I remember having a terrible fear of the dark, I still don't know why I did too this day.

The only thing that really ever freaked me out was the whole "Bloody Mary" myth. The urban legend went around our school and scared everyone, myself included. That one had me scared for years...

I've never heard about this with stepping on cracks..

And once on a Friday 13th. I was almost hit by a car, while crossing a road.., but it was just almost, so you could say I was lucky..

And I've crossed the path of a black cat crossing the road before, and nothing's ever happened.

Heh, and not to long ago, I was going out and a black cat looked like it was about to cross the road in front of me, but as I came closer, it looked at me, then stopped, and turned and walked away.

Damn those superstitious black cats..

But to be honest, I guess I can be a little superstitious now and then, but I've never had any real bad luck on Friday 13th, or as a result of crossing the path of a black cat.

I am absolute not superstitious. I have not really done many things that involve it though. Except black cats I own one and it crosses my path like fifty times. I have broken a mirror and my luck is still good. I guess even if I would have bad luck then me having tons and tons of good luck would counter it or something. I just can't believe in it.

Oh to your question, step on a crack break your mothers back.

You make your own luck and in return, make your own supersition, at least I think.

The only one that I really had, along with some friends, was back in high school drama, where we believed in the ghost that we had in our playhouse and to never say "Good luck" or "MacBeth".

All Stratfordians believe that Anya, trust me...

I remember going to a play, and I was psyched and I kept saying MacBeth rocked...Well, security asked me to stop as I was disturbing several actors.

Oh Superstitions... I know of a lot those. I don't really believe them, but since my Grandma and just yesterday my sister and I read about them, I was like kinda frigg'ed out. These are mostly Catholic ones...

-If you hear something distant when nobody is around, don't answer. It could be the devil trying to take away your soul. (HA!)
-Don't whistle in your house. Its bad luck, it calles the devil or evil spirits.
-If you leave a full glass of water by your door in your bedroom or by the front door of your house and it is empty the next morning, that means you have an evil spirit.
-Leave a full glass of water by your door in your bedroom. The water takes away negative vibrations or something. By the end of the day, empty it out or the negativity will remain in your room.
-At night, a devil might try to sit on you or crush your head. The only way to remove him is to pray. And pray hard. This one is so true. It happened to me once. And some other girl in Cosmo Girl...
-If your feet are sweeped, you won't get married.
-Saying Bloody Mary in the mirror with the lights off will trigger her to come alive and take you away ... or some BS XDDD This one's a fake. I've tried it already. So has my mother lol.
-If you sleep on your back with your arms crossed, you could get nightmares. Or the devil might try to count the hairs on your head. o.O
-If you hear a noise outside passed midnight, don't look. It could be the devil trying to lure you away.
-If the door is knocked on three times and nobody is there, it could be the devil or an evil spirit. Opening the door would only let them/it in. Another version says that you should open the door... Shiet... open the door my ass..

Trust me, I have tons. But I don't believe them. I sometimes try them when I get kinda daring ^.^

Not considiring how a cat got killed... (I hate when pets get killed, I know as one of my neighberhoods dog was hit by a car and died... )

I never had any, well for a period of time I didn't lay my keys on the table. But now I don't really care.

I heard, if you feel unlucky. You get unlucky. It's proven... and it's possible to cure unluckiness. By feeling lucky...

There is a good explanation why it is like that, but I hope you figure it out. xP

I never stick chopsticks into a bowl of rice and leave it there to waste because it is bad manners for one, and it means that you want the cook to die. I never do that with any other food either.

There are some other traditions taught by my grandfather. He tells me when I drink tea or sake and wish for good health among the people or person I am drinking with, I have to hold my wrist while I give cheers. In the anchient time, the samaurai did that among their comrades to show them that they mean peace, not to draw out their sword and kill the other person. I use that as good table manners around my grandfather.

There is another superstition my grandfather told me; if you put makeup on a person while they are asleep, they will die the next day and their ghost will haunt you forever. Very scary as well as interesting, but I don't really believe that.

My grandfather told me to never pick up pieces of a chandelier on the ground because the gems contain the souls of those who had thier blood spilled on that patch of soil. When I was little and had a bad dream or I think I might have bad luck, my grandpa used to give me a Kudicha to take all the evil away.

I just remembered some more... o.o

-The dirtier under your bed, the more spirits live in your room.
-If you were really close to somebody in your family or close to a friend, and he/she/it dies, it could sometimes "haunt" you or come to visit you..
-If you put your purse on the floor, you can lose money and get bad luck. Keep it on top of the bed...
-If you put a penny in each corner of the house, you could be rich forever.. I Don't BELIEVE IT! XD How come I'm not rich? ::cries:: o.o

I might remember some more later...

EDIT:: Damn, I keep spelling things wrong x.X

Eh heh! That "bad luck" nowadays is called Credit Card Theft...

-Another one, if you leave your hat on the bed at someone's house it's bad luck, you'll be an unwanted guest.

-If you put a sand dollar in your shirt pocket it is good luck and will keep you from getting shot there. That happened to Theodore Roosevelt.

-If you are alone in the house and you gaze into the mirror when it is pitch black, you recite bloodymary three times and you'll get bad luck or she'll come out and suck the life out of you.
