I swear and I promise you, all Floridans are NOT like this. Urg, this makes me laugh and sick and laugh at the same time....

~~

PORT ORANGE, Florida (AP) -- A man hit his girlfriend with a 3-foot alligator and threw beer bottles at her during an argument in the couple's mobile home, authorities said.

David Havenner, 41, was ordered held without bond Saturday on misdemeanor charges of battery and possession of an alligator.

The alligator, which Havenner had been keeping in his bathtub, was turned over to Florida wildlife officials.

Nancy Monico, 39, told investigators that Havenner beat her with his fists, then grabbed the alligator and swung it at her as she tried to escape, sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said. She said the animal hit her at least once. She also told authorities that Havenner threw empty beer bottles at her, Davidson said.

Havenner's version of the story differed. He told investigators that Monico bit his hand because she was upset that they had run out of alcohol.

from here

~~

This is WAY north from where I live, by the way. The south part of Florida is nothing like this.

Damn hicks.

I thought it was in New york they had alligators as pets. (yes I know they are all just urban legends...)

At least, if I ever get to north florida. I know what to expect.

At the same time I don' t like it about hitting others with a alligator. That's animal abuse...

Well, don't underestimate an alligator from its size; it's fast and its bite power is deadly strong

I've seen gators for sell at this one pet shop, but for the most part, I've seen them along the highway that takes you from the south park of Florida to the west side. Nothing but the Everglades, gators and other animals for miles upon miles.

... It seems everything can be used as a weapon in this day and age . Im even more suprised that guy was keeping it as a pet, and that his girlfriend actually allowed it...

Well he was keeping it in the bathtub, and being hicks, they probably never use it. I guess she never found out.

But then, it's the person who get damaged the most...

And maybe it even got stressed. Pets aren't made for smashing people with..

What about snakes? They kind of look whips, maybe they could be weapons. Anyway, it's good to know that the alligator is probably ok.

No alligators here. It's kinda funny how they could have them as pets and also be used as a weapon . I didn't even think it was legal. It's like having a pet lion and having an undnerground fighting arena or something..Never really even seen an alligator. Not even sure of the difference of it between a crocodile

I think alligators just have blunter snouts, and are more common in the US.

Mwhahaha that would have made it 4 times as funnier..or something . That would really show him not to hit people with dangerous animals or "pets". Just that whole thing reminds me of something off of that website joecartoon.com XD

What if you committed murder using an animal, but not directly. Let's say you trained a tiger or something to kill a man. Then let into the victim's home, retrieving it via window, and then dropping it into the zoo. How would anybody ever know you put the animal up to it?

It's "dang"; "Hey Ma, get off the dang roof!"

This is animal cruelty! I, for one, will not stand for iron skinned alligators are being used as baseball bats! IT'S HORRIBLE!
