| kk, I have a request for a new forum. This would be the Admin/user relations forum. This would be a place, unlike help/suggestions, where users could tell the staff and admins their problems and concerns with recent announcments/decisions and be taken seriously. Most any thread saying "Hey mr admin... why did you do this?" have been closed with a snotty reply, and I think it is high time to perhaps listen to what users have to say about your attitudes. it won't just be a "bitch at the admins" forum, you could also mention new policy changes or ideas there and have a correspondence to work out details to everyone's satisfaction. I am starting this thread to get the idea ourt there and also to make a thread like one that would be there. It'll eb nice to see how people reply/respond to it to see how the forum would work if it existed. Am I betting, unfortunatly, that this will be closed by an admin without a nice intelligent argument, making them oddly like the recently banned users. Anywhoo here is the first psot of an imaginary second thread that would be like the one in the imaginarty forum. Anyone else think that it is kind of annoying that the last 3 announcements are like us all being shouted at? Now, I know this will be closed and I will likyl be banend again because they don't tolerate any "Bad mouthing" of admins even if done in a polite manner, but.. I certainly understand the frustration Admins have with stupid users and hard to read backgrounds. I dissagree, however, with the form your frustration takes. "Of your shitty background choices. Learn some design or get it removed." For example. Or perhaps.. "I don't want to waste my time with fixing your layout because OMG PREETTY FONTZ!!111 AND COLORS YAY. So save me the trouble and pick things that are readable." Or maybe calling the board as a whole, in general, stupid. And saying that you will ban people for being stupid. Again, I understand the frustration I have as a user against such people. But, when I was an admin I had to learn how to seperate that frustration from my job as an admin. There are many, MANY stupid people in the world, and they have the right to speak just like anyone. Also, too often in situations like this "stupid" ends up as "not agreeing with me" For example, I am agnostic, so to me a christain just popping on saying "DUh ur wrong jesus is god bible say so" is very stupid. However, to him I am just as stupid to not believe in it. If there was a board *there are many* where there were gaggles of uninformed moronic people who thrust out a smart person because he disagreed with them *nevermind that he was right* that would be bad. The question, then, becomes "Is it also wrong to do the exact same thing, but be the one that is correct?" To me the anwser is no, because even stupid people who don't back up arguments are people, and they deserve to be here too. Do they lessen the enjoyment of others on the board? Certainly! When everyone is allowed to express opinions, stupid as they may be, there is inconvience and annoyance all around. To me, however, it is far better to have some annoyance all aroudn that to have the majority, or the side the admin agres with, or etc etc avoid all of that annoyance by silencing the rest in an elitest manner. Because a little annoyance all around is better than very little annoyance for some and maximum annoyance for everyone else because they can't be themselves on the board. |
