It's like the guy that was on Press Your Luck.

He noticed that there was a pattern to the board and studied it. When he went onto the show, he ended up winning over $100,000 dollars (Back in the 70/80s that was a lot more than now). That's when they first implememnted prize caps.

it needs to be a fun game show for me...like Fear Factor or something...something that i could walk away from knowing that i had a good time...i think that prize would be more rewarding then the money...though the money IS good too!

haha true so true...that's why i think the memories would be richer to possess than
the actual money that you would receive.

i saw once a a game show Top Dog i think it was, they did a Jeopardy-ish event with two people that were strapped onto this wheel that was several feet in the air and spinning around clockwise and if they got a question wrong it would spin faster and faster. i think Jeopardy should impliment that into their game. making it interesting for intellectuals as well as thrill seekers.

I think that that was called dog eat dog.And morelike a fear factor thing. If a contestant gets a question wrong, they spin a wheel and they have to eat whatever they land on. Ideas include: Horse rectum, pig intestine, protien shake, maggot pizza, reindeer testicles, and another answer to the question. If you get that wrong though, you have to spin again and do twice whatever you land on.

Jeopardy doesn't have a price cap now though.

And I certainly don't think they need to change a formula that's been in place since the show's beginnings.

It's also worth noting that Press Your Luck specifically added new, random boards after that. The producers noted that contestants immediately after that guy were disappointed to find this out.

And there was an article on Ken Jennings in my local paper about a week ago.

EDIT: Hmm, apparently I somehow messed up the spoiler tags.
EDIT 2: Let's preview before posting this time...got it. A little too late, but...oh well, not a lot I can do about it now...sorry 'bout that.

Spoiler:
The shows were taped back in February, and he's no longer recording episodes, so he DOES lose at some point. Apparently he wasn't at liberty to say exactly when, however.

Spoiler:
Some reports say that he's lost, but other reports say that he's waiting for the next set of tapings to begin - meaning that he's still undefeated. At least with conflicting reports, we'll never know when he's going to be downed.

Wait, what the crap is this doing here? It's Entertainment, if ye ask me.

And he broke every record but the one-day one, which he tied. He didn't want that record all to himself, but tied so he could get Alex to shaddup. He's fairly active on TV Without Pity's boards, namely the Jeopardy! thread.

But Alex still won't shut up about it, he was harping on Ken to break the record today. Ken tied it again instead, though. One more good game and he'll break a million...

Dude... I always watch Jeopardy. But the only thing is that when I try to answer I question in my head... I always get it wrong. I wonder why..? Am I not that smart? Or am I just answering a question too quick for my ability..? AH! There goes my magnificent (SP?) Rambling again? XDD

Does it matter who wins? Even if that guy wins another one or loses one, he'll still be rich and stuff .... o.o Or am I just talking to myself now? ^.^

I haven't watched Jeopardy in awhile . It was kinda fun to watch in a boring way. It's just something I watch when I'm really bored or something, not really for fun. I try to get some questions right but it sometimes doesn't work out.

You're not the first to notice. When I made that other thread, it never occured to me to look in Craziness, of all places, for a thread about Ken .

Anyway, there is a difference between Ken's current reign of Jeopardy!, and Michael Larson's of Press Your Luck. The way Ken's winning everything in sight is one of the intended effects of the current Jeopardy! system. Intended to possibly have a contestant like Ken, going on, winning game after game after game. No one working on the show had ever intended for anyone to pull a Larson on Press Your Luck, though, and as such, why they changed a bit after his show.

They're doing that so they can get more ratings. Without viewers, it doesn't matter how good a show is.

Obviously. If you look carefully at all the signs, you will notice that almost all reality TV Shows, and some game shows, are rigged. Some reality. :|

Spoiler:
Ken broke the $1m mark today. And to boot, he actually went for the one-day record of $52,000 in Final Jeopardy (with an absolutely huge lead of around $46,000, I believe) and bet $14,000, but didn't get the question right.
